Blue Marble Geographics and Avenza Systems Combine to Create Unified Geospatial Platform

April 7, 2026 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

Merger connects office-based analysis with field operations for end-to-end spatial workflows

Blue Marble Geographics and Avenza Systems, Inc. have announced a combined organization that will operate under the Blue Marble Geographics name. The move brings together complementary geospatial technologies designed to connect office-based spatial analysis with field data collection and execution.

The unified platform integrates Blue Marble’s Global Mapper® and Geographic Calculator® with Avenza Maps®. Together, these tools support a continuous workflow that spans LiDAR and photogrammetric point cloud processing, coordinate transformation, and mobile data collection.

The companies say the goal is to deliver a connected system that supports accuracy and performance across complex environments.

Connecting the Field and the Office

The combined offering focuses on linking two key parts of geospatial work. Office-based analysis often handles large datasets and complex modeling. Field operations require reliable tools for navigation and data capture.

By integrating these capabilities, the platform aims to streamline how geospatial data moves from creation to action.

“By uniting the capabilities of Blue Marble Geographics and Avenza Systems, we are now able to accelerate how geospatial workflows connect from the office to the field, helping bridge the digital and physical worlds where geospatial data is created, analyzed, and put into action,” said Stevenson, Chief Product Officer of Blue Marble Geographics. “Our focus is on enabling these workflows to function as a connected system, making it easier for customers to operate more efficiently and effectively across any environment.”

The announcement follows the appointment of Patrick Stevenson as Chief Product Officer. Stevenson brings nearly two decades of experience in product development and engineering. His background includes roles at Trimble and Intermap, with a focus on AEC, surveying, and geospatial markets.

He will lead product strategy and integration efforts for the combined company.

Focus on Integration and Innovation

The combined company plans to invest in unifying its product portfolio. The goal is to improve how users move between analysis, transformation, and field deployment.

“The combination of these two companies represents an important step forward for us and for our customers,” said Jeremy Parker, CEO of Blue Marble Geographics. “We are bringing together technologies that have each delivered strong value independently, and are making investments to unify the products, accelerate innovation, and better support our customers’ operations across complex, real world environments.”

Blue Marble Geographics serves a global customer base across industries such as architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC), energy, natural resources, and defense. These sectors rely on precise spatial data to support planning and operations in complex settings.

Avenza Systems brings strength in mobile mapping and field navigation. Its Avenza Maps® app supports GPS positioning, map interaction, and field data collection. These capabilities are widely used in environments where connectivity may be limited.

Supporting Complex Geospatial Workflows

The integration reflects a broader trend in geospatial technology. Organizations are looking for tools that reduce friction between data analysis and real-world execution.

By combining office and field capabilities, the unified platform aims to improve efficiency and data consistency. This approach may be especially relevant for drone-based mapping, surveying, and inspection workflows, where data must move quickly from capture to analysis to decision-making.

Blue Marble Geographics is backed by Eterna Growth Partners, which focuses on scaling technology companies. The company states that this support will help drive continued development and expansion of its platform.

The combined organization will continue to serve professionals who rely on accurate spatial data to operate in complex and dynamic environments.
