The partners named Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City as the next cities to join the nation’s largest drone delivery network.
Wing and Walmart have confirmed seven new major metro areas as part of their ongoing rollout of the largest drone delivery network in the United States. The Wing Walmart drone delivery service will expand to Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City.
The additions push the partnership toward nearly 20 U.S. markets and support a previously announced plan to build out more than 270 locations and reach over 40 million Americans by 2027. This follows early phases of that plan which began when the partners launched their first major Houston expansion in January 2026.
Wing Walmart Drone Delivery Scales the Network
Wing has completed well over one million commercial deliveries. The company pairs its FAA permissions and lightweight delivery drones with Walmart’s retail footprint to run routes already operating in Dallas-Fort Worth, Greater Houston, and Metro Atlanta.
“Our work with Walmart has shown that drone delivery isn’t just a novelty, it’s a service many customers count on multiple times per week,” said Heather Rivera, Wing’s Chief Business Officer. “We’re already working with many communities in the seven new markets, as we accelerate our progress to bring ultra-fast delivery to 40 million residents throughout the U.S.”
Wing’s drones cruise at speeds up to 60 mph (about 97 km/h) and use a tether to lower packages directly to a yard or driveway in as little as 30 minutes.
Phased Launch and Customer Access
“Customers expect their orders on their terms, delivered with speed and ease,” said Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President of eCommerce Fulfillment Transformation, Walmart U.S. “Expanding into new markets with Wing allows us to provide an innovative delivery option for customers, utilizing our vast store network to make everyday shopping and fulfilling last-minute needs just a little bit easier.”
This wave builds on previously announced markets in Orlando, Tampa, Charlotte, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, and Miami. Wing and Walmart say they will coordinate with local leaders before launch in each city.
Once service is live, eligible customers will see the drone delivery option on the Walmart app or website at their account address. Customers can also order through the Wing app or join the waitlist at Wing.com/Walmart. Wing’s recent moves beyond retail include the Papa Johns Charlotte pilot that Dronelife covered last month.
