Wing Names New Engineering Leadership

September 4, 2026 by staff Leave a Comment

The two appointments deepen Wing’s engineering bench as the residential drone delivery operator prepares to reach 40 million Americans and expand internationally in 2027.

New Engineering Leadership

Wing appointed two engineering executives to its C-suite. The moves position the company to scale residential drone delivery ahead of a 2027 U.S. and international push. Brandon Jones becomes Chief Autonomous Systems and Applications Officer. Paul Gojenola takes the new Chief Hardware Development and Manufacturing Operations Officer role.

Brandon Jones on autonomy and UTM

Jones leads end-to-end autonomy across the Wing delivery network. He oversees physical AI, safety-critical flight software, advanced simulation and flight testing, alongside ground systems, Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and commerce-facing digital platforms. A decade-long Wing veteran, Jones helped guide foundational decisions from the company’s early days inside Alphabet’s Google X moonshot factory. Before Wing, Jones served as a U.S. Navy Aerospace Engineer at Patuxent River, Maryland. He supported the F/A-18 Automatic Carrier Landing System and the X-47B Unmanned Carrier Air System Demonstrator. That team won the 2013 Collier Trophy for the greatest U.S. achievement in aeronautics. Jones holds an aerospace engineering degree from UCLA and completed U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, Class 133.

Paul Gojenola on hardware and manufacturing

Gojenola joined Wing earlier this year. He brings 30 years of shipping high-volume consumer electronics at Google, Apple and Amazon. He spent the past decade as a Google Vice President of Hardware. He led teams for Google Nest, Google Home, Fitbit and Pixel Tablets. At Wing, Gojenola runs Hardware Development and Manufacturing Operations. His teams build the aircraft and the supporting delivery infrastructure. He leads from the Bay Area, colocated with Wing’s hardware development lab.

“Brandon has played an integral role in Wing’s growth for over a decade, and I’ve been able to see his exceptional capabilities up close. It is clear he has the expertise and the vision to inspire the team and bring Wing’s autonomous and perception systems into the next decade,” said Adam Woodworth, Wing chief executive. “With the addition of Paul and his impressive hardware leadership experience, the Wing engineering team now has unparalleled technology leadership, and we are positioned to meet the fast-growing demand of drone delivery in the coming months and years.”

Wing was the first drone delivery operator to earn a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate. The company also led the first at-scale residential delivery across multiple markets. Today, Wing serves hundreds of communities daily with more added weekly. The company plans to reach 40 million Americans in the coming months.
