The new flagship of the MicaSense portfolio captures synchronized multispectral, panchromatic and radiometric thermal data in a single payload for research and defense customers.
AgEagle Aerial Systems (NYSE: UAVS), doing business as EagleNXT, unveiled the Altum-PT Pro on September 3, 2026. The launch took place at the Commercial UAV Expo in Las Vegas. The sensor extends the MicaSense portfolio with the FLIR Boson 640R radiometric thermal core. It also carries firmware updates and internal hardware changes over the base Altum-PT. Multispectral and panchromatic performance carry over from the prior model.
The Altum-PT Pro pixel-aligns its sensors for simpler processing and tighter correlation between spectral and thermal layers. Trusted MicaSense radiometric calibration, DLS2 illumination correction and existing research pipelines carry across. Integration options cover Ethernet, MAVLink serial, PWM triggering and HTTP APIs. The sensor supports multirotor aircraft and VTOL platforms for high-endurance mapping.
“Customer feedback has been clear, users want the integrated thermal capability of the Altum-PT and also need science-grade thermal performance,” said Bill Irby, CEO of EagleNXT. “This sensor delivers higher-resolution radiometric thermal data while preserving the multispectral and panchromatic performance researchers depend on. The Altum-PT Pro delivers for users at the high end of the market, giving advanced users greater confidence in their datasets.”
Altum-PT Pro use cases
“Researchers and professionals in a variety of fields can use this sensor for crop analysis, environmental monitoring, identifying early issues on solar farms for hotspots or maintenance, working industrial inspections, temperature data, and developing precise mapping, all with this single sensor. The Altum-PT Pro will take detailed color-spectrum, black-and-white, and higher-resolution heat images together in one flight, providing researchers with quick, pinpointed outputs specific to their objectives,” said Irby.
Target markets include drone OEMs and integrators building specialized aerial mapping systems. The Altum-PT Pro also targets premium multi-sensor platform demand while reinforcing scientifically validated multispectral sensing.
Availability and company milestones
U.S. customers can order the Altum-PT Pro now. International availability follows in November 2026. EagleNXT sensors integrate with more than 150 drone models and appear in over 100 research publications. The company platforms carry FAA approvals for Operations Over People and Beyond Visual Line of Sight. They also hold EASA C2 certification in Europe and Blue UAS list inclusion from the U.S. Department of Defense.
