DRONE VOLT, the French based provider of drone services, has developed a monitoring solution that can enable a tethered drone to fly for several days.
The monitoring station, the Z18 UF, developed by DRONE VOLT’s R&D division, is targeted at meeting the surveillance industry’s increasingly sophisticated needs for drone functionality. Sales of civilian drones for applications in security and surveillance are expected to reach €139
billion in 2020, according to a study by In Safely.
According to the company the Z18 UF is “a true autonomous monitoring station, is a tethered drone whose flight in ’24 hour stationary mode’ provides continuous and safe aerial surveillance.” It is equipped with a powerful 18x zoom camera and connected to the ground by an autonomous power station developed especially for this drone. The device is adjustable to a height of up to 40 meters and offers close to 360° high-speed real time video/photothrough its own radio connection.
In addition to surveillance the Z18 UF can assist in a variety of industries and applications. These include:
- using in inspection and surveillance on towers and communications antennas, oil refineries and drilling platforms, airports, wind power stations, viaducts and dams, energy infrastructure, power stations, nuclear reactors, mobile military/contractor bases, port facilities,
forest fire detection, and many more. - using in support of the search and rescue operations, natural disaster relief, fire
suppression, border surveillance, crowd monitoring, sporting/music events security, and many
more. - contributing to road safety with traffic monitoring, analysis and traffic accidents.
DRONE VOLT also is expanding operations internationally, establishing offices in the United States and Switzerland.
Daniel Roe will head the US office in Seattle, Washington as EVP. Roe is an acknowledged expert in the field of consumer and professional electronics products and most recently in the professional drone field specifically. Dan was notably worldwide Director of Sales, with Freefly Systems, a
