Partnership aims to give Drone as First Responder programs more complete location intelligence before aircraft launch
GeoComm and SkyfireAI have announced a new integration designed to improve how Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs respond to emergency calls. The companies are combining GeoComm’s DFR Routing technology with SkyfireAI’s autonomous drone platform to give public safety agencies more complete location intelligence from the moment a 9-1-1 call is received.
The announcement addresses a growing challenge for Drone as First Responder programs. While many agencies can now launch drones within minutes of an emergency call, getting an aircraft into the air is only part of the response. Operators also need accurate information about exactly where an incident is occurring and how responders should access the scene.
Instead of relying only on map coordinates, the new integration adds operational details such as buildings, campuses, access routes, and surrounding context. That information can help drone operators and first responders develop a clearer picture before ground units arrive.
Moving Beyond Coordinates
GeoComm introduced DFR Routing earlier this year at the NENA 2026 Annual Conference & Expo. The platform builds on the company’s public safety mapping data to translate emergency dispatch information into routing designed specifically for Drone as First Responder operations.
The routing data feeds directly into SkyfireAI’s platform, which provides AI-powered mission planning, autonomous flight operations, remote flight services, and multi-aircraft management. The company has become one of the more visible providers in the growing DFR market, supporting municipal programs and developing software intended to reduce operator workload while allowing agencies to scale drone operations.

Building a Connected Response
The companies say the combined system maintains operational context from the initial 9-1-1 call through drone deployment, aerial assessment, and ground response. That shared picture is intended to help telecommunicators, drone operators, command staff, and field personnel work from the same information throughout an incident.
For SkyfireAI, the announcement expands its focus on software and autonomy rather than aircraft alone. Earlier this year, the company announced new funding to accelerate development of AI-based, multi-drone operations for public safety and defense customers. It has also played a leading role in Ohio’s statewide Drone as First Responder initiative, which aims to demonstrate how coordinated drone programs can support agencies across an entire state.
