Project FlyTrap: Strengthening Counter Drone Defenses

DroneShield Joins U.S.-UK Project FlyTrap to Strengthen Counter-Drone Defenses: Joint training in Germany and Poland focuses on CUAS capabilities in response to emerging battlefield threats

DroneShield Participates in Multinational Exercise

DroneShield, a global provider of counter-unmanned aerial systems (CUAS), is supporting Project FlyTrap—an ongoing U.S.-UK defense initiative led by the U.S. Army V Corps. Held in Germany and Poland from June through August 2025, the exercise aims to improve counter-drone operations and prepare NATO allies for increasingly complex aerial threats.

The initiative brings together U.S. and U.K. forces to test new technologies and enhance readiness for modern warfare. Project FlyTrap includes real-world CUAS training, with support from companies like DroneShield that specialize in defending against uncrewed aerial vehicles.

Proven CUAS Technology on the Battlefield

DroneShield has focused solely on CUAS solutions for more than 11 years. Its technology is now active in over 40 countries, with nearly 4,000 units deployed.

The company’s systems have played a significant role in Ukraine since the conflict began, giving DroneShield real-world experience in high-threat environments.

“CUAS is no longer optional—it’s essential,” said Tom Branstetter, VP of Business Development and Sales at DroneShield. “We see exercises like Project FlyTrap as crucial to testing technology before it gets into the warfighter’s hands. We’re honored that our technology is playing a role in shaping the future of CUAS operations and supporting the mission readiness of our allied forces.”

Strengthening Allied Defense Through Innovation

Project FlyTrap reflects a growing need among NATO partners to counter advanced drone threats, especially those seen in recent global conflicts. The training focuses on integrating CUAS tools into broader defense strategies, including electronic warfare and cyber-electromagnetic activities.

During the exercise, British soldiers from the Royal Yorkshire Regiment tested CUAS gear alongside their American counterparts. DroneShield’s DroneGun Mk4 was among the tools used in field scenarios.
