The modular launcher stacks drones in tubes on an electric elevator, fitting 30% more aircraft into the same volume while keeping each one charged and updated.
Auterion introduced the Nemyx Vertical Launch System (Nemyx VLS) on October 5, 2026, a modular launcher built for drones from multiple manufacturers. The Arlington, Virginia defense software company designed it to extend Nemyx, its swarm engine, from software into the hardware that puts drones in the air. As a result, the same launcher accepts high-volume commercial drones, strike drones and interceptors.
How the Nemyx Vertical Launch System works
Drones stack vertically inside each tube. An electric elevator then carries the next drone to the top for launch, regardless of airframe. Because of that design, Nemyx VLS packs 30% more drones into the same volume than launchers without an elevator.
Auterion offers tubes for 10-inch FPVs and for interceptors, along with a separate container for typical mid-range loitering munitions. Operators can group tubes in 2×2 or 4×4 arrays or fill an entire ISO container. In addition, the system works with drones from Auterion partners including Skyfall, Airlogix, Rheinmetall, DeltaQuad and Griffon Aerospace, so customers can add or change drone suppliers without replacing the launcher. Auterion has already integrated it with leading armored vehicle manufacturers in the United States and Germany.
Targeting, standby and deployment
Any Auterion-powered vehicle can hand a target to Nemyx VLS and trigger a single launch or a swarm launch. A human designates every target, and the software automates execution after that decision. Meanwhile, stored drones stay connected to the launcher, which charges them, holds them in powered standby and installs software updates. Consequently, drones are ready to fly without a crew opening the tube.
The environmentally sealed system runs for multiple hours on an integrated battery. On external power, it can stay forward-deployed for months or years.
“Most drone launchers are built for one drone from one vendor, so every new drone brings another box to carry, power and maintain,” said Dr. Lorenz Meier, founder and chief executive of Auterion. “Nemyx VLS works the other way around. Operators pick the drones, and the launcher keeps every one of them charged and up to date.”
Nemyx VLS is now available to first integration partners.
