French drone manufacturer Parrot is launching a new product in June, according to a countdown on the company’s website. All we know so far is ‘Il Arrive’: It’s coming.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a new drone to look forward to from Parrot. In recent times the company has shifted its focus from the prosumer market, repurposing both its Bebop 2 and the fixed-wing Disco for commercial purposes.
The last major product announcement from Parrot was arguably the Bebop 2 Power, an upgrade of the original 2015 Bebop 2 that represents good value for money but falls short of the competition from DJI in terms of features and performance.

The only clue we have so far is in the image displayed on the Parrot website, which appears to show LED lights as a battery takes charge. Not much to go on then.
What to expect from Parrot’s next drone
It’s difficult to speculate over where Parrot will head next with its latest drone. Recent releases and changes of strategy suggest that the company is no longer targeting the top end or looking to compete with anything in line with or above the DJI Mavic Air.
A Bebop 3 is possible. As interesting a product as the Disco was, there might not be much of a market for a new iteration of the fixed-wing drone.
However, we could be in for a surprise. To date, none of Parrot’s drones have had obstacle avoidance systems built in or 4K video recording. Maybe this is the time for the French manufacturer to step up and take a serious chunk out of DJI’s aerial photography and commercial drone hardware dominance.
Let’s wait and see.
