Another teaser! Today DJI posted a video that has confirmed many of the rumors going around surrounding the new drone from the world’s most popular manufacturer. After looking at the latest promotional video, we can assume that it’s definitely going to be a new drone launched on May 24th. And we can now also say for sure that it’s going to be something small; tailored to the mainstream selfie market.
“Your World is About to Get a Little Bigger”
That was the phrase put forward in DJI’s latest promo video. On the one hand, you can’t read much from it at all, but it’s also begging to be analysed to the max. The word ‘Little’ is miniaturized, so maybe we can assume that size is an essential feature here. Is this footage from the DJI Spark, the smaller drone that there have been
Is this footage from the DJI Spark, the smaller drone that there have been leaks regarding?

Hidden Clues in the Latest DJI Video
We’ve taken a closer look at the DJI video so you don’t have to. From a DroneLife perspective there are two interesting points.
The first is that at various points in the video, the camera footage is super stable and appears to be handheld, like it’s attached to a handheld gimbal. If this is the case, that’s a big step for DJI. Until now the company has kept its handheld gimbals and drone completely separate.
The second clue can be seen at the 30-secondd mark. The word ‘Size’ is prominent before the phrase ‘Seize the Moment’, which is obviously stating that size is going to be a central part of the new release. That notion would give prominence to the idea that the DJI Spark is going to be the company’s smallest, most portable drone to date.
Is the DJI Spark the Final Nail in the Coffin for GoPro
If you watch the video above carefully, it looks like the users are holding the drone before letting if off the leash.
Is this a similar system to the modular offering put forward by GoPro? Could the DJI Spark be part of a modular system that fits in with the company’s Osmo range? If so, that could be a final nail in the coffin for GoPro’s hopes in the consumer drone market?
DJI’s Social Drone
Watch the video above at around the 36-secondd mark: “Oh my gosh, we’ve got to hurry up and get home so I can post this RIGHT NOW.”
That, my friends, is the phrase of a man overly attached to social media.
So what can we read from that statement? Perhaps this is going to be a DJI drone that is more targeted toward a mainstream audience. Instead of being for serious photographers, the Spark is designed for enthusiasts, for people that are simply looking for a cooler way to take a photograph.
As much as we love to speculate, we’re glad the madness will be over soon. This time next week we should know exactly what DJI has in mind. Until then, feel free to share your speculation in the comments below!
