Austin-based Infravision has raised $91 million in Series B funding to accelerate the global deployment of its aerial robotics system for power line construction and maintenance. The round was led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC, with participation from Activate Capital and Hitachi Ventures, alongside existing investor Energy Impact Partners.
Founded in 2018 by robotics engineer Cameron Van Der Berg and military veteran Chris Cox, Infravision has developed the TX System—a drone-based platform that replaces traditional helicopter and manual methods for power line stringing. The technology combines autonomous drones, intelligent ground equipment, and specialized stringing hardware to deliver faster, safer, and more cost-effective grid infrastructure deployment.
Infravision’s Projects
The company has already completed more than 40 major projects across four countries, including high-profile deployments like the Powerlink Genex project in Australia and emergency response operations with PG&E in California. The TX System offers helicopter-level capabilities in a truck-based fleet vehicle, reducing project costs, minimizing outages, and improving emergency response in challenging conditions.
With global electricity demand surging due to AI infrastructure, industrial onshoring, and electrification, utilities face unprecedented pressure to expand transmission capacity. The International Energy Agency estimates the world must double grid infrastructure by 2040 to meet climate goals. Infravision’s technology addresses critical bottlenecks in this buildout by eliminating many contingencies and hazards inherent in conventional power line construction.
“Infravision’s aerial robotics system has been proven on some of the largest and most complex power line projects in the world,” said Van Der Berg. “This investment will help us scale to provide a faster, safer, and more cost-effective way to meet surging electricity demand as the world races to double grid infrastructure by 2040”.
The new capital will fund U.S. manufacturing expansion, world-class engineering talent acquisition, and partnerships with leading utilities and contractors across North America. With Australia established as a proven market, the company is now focused on accelerating its North American footprint.
