Gremsy USA Launches Blue UAS-Cleared Payload Line as Drone Supply Chains Shift

Vietnamese-founded gimbal specialist expands U.S. production with NDAA-compliant EO/IR payloads for government, public safety and enterprise drones

Gremsy USA has introduced three NDAA-compliant, Blue UAS-cleared drone payloads for the U.S. market. The move comes as federal policy puts growing pressure on drone manufacturers to secure domestic and trusted supply chains.

The new portfolio includes the VIO F1, ORUS L NDAA and LYNX NDAA. Gremsy USA is now accepting pre-orders for all three systems.

The announcement marks an important step for the broader Gremsy organization. Gremsy was founded by Vietnamese engineers in 2011 and remains headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The company has since become an established global supplier of gimbals and camera payloads for drones and robotics.

Gremsy USA, headquartered in California, is building a U.S.-based engineering and manufacturing operation focused on the American market.

From Global Gimbal Supplier to U.S. Manufacturing

The expansion comes during a major shift in U.S. drone policy.

In December 2025, the Federal Communications Commission added foreign-produced UAS and critical UAS components to its Covered List on a going-forward basis. Blue UAS-cleared products and products meeting the Buy American standard later received exemptions.

More recently, the White House has increased its focus on domestic production and supply chain security. An August 13 proclamation specifically identified U.S. dependence on foreign-made drone components as a national security concern. It cited motors, electronic speed controllers, lithium-ion batteries and docking stations among areas of dependence.

Against that backdrop, Gremsy USA’s strategy provides a path for technology developed within an established international drone company to serve customers under increasingly strict U.S. sourcing requirements.

The company says its U.S. operation engineers and builds its compliant payloads domestically.

Three Blue UAS-Cleared Payloads

Gremsy USA’s portfolio combines its stabilized gimbal technology with NDAA-compliant thermal imaging technology from Teledyne FLIR OEM.

The VIO F1 combines visible zoom and thermal imaging in an EO/IR payload. Gremsy targets the system toward industrial inspections, search and rescue, and situational awareness.

The ORUS L NDAA is a larger stabilized spherical payload designed for long-range operations. Potential applications include surveillance, reconnaissance and critical infrastructure monitoring.

The LYNX NDAA targets the other end of the size range. The lightweight dual EO/IR gimbal is designed for smaller UAS where size, weight and power are significant constraints.

Gremsy USA announced earlier this month that the ORUS L NDAA and LYNX NDAA had joined the Blue UAS Cleared List. They join the VIO F1 in the company’s U.S. portfolio.

The thermal capabilities use Teledyne FLIR OEM technology. Gremsy says the collaboration allows it to combine stabilized payload systems with NDAA-compliant radiometric thermal camera modules.

“Our collaboration with Teledyne FLIR OEM demonstrates how U.S.-engineered stabilization and world-class thermal imaging combine to form fully vetted, Blue UAS-cleared packages,” said Mr. Ryan Le, CEO of Gremsy USA. “We are focused on providing OEMs and integrators with complete operational confidence as they deploy next-generation unmanned platforms.”

Supply Chain Policy Reshapes the Component Market

The significance of the announcement extends beyond the three payloads.

Federal policy increasingly treats individual drone components, rather than only complete aircraft, as part of the security equation. The FCC’s Covered List actions now apply to foreign-produced UAS critical components, while recent federal actions have placed additional emphasis on identifying the origin of materials, components and software throughout defense supply chains.

The July 20 executive order on defense supply chains, for example, calls for contractors to map critical supply chains from raw materials through finished products. It also directs the government to encourage qualification of domestic and allied sources where supply chain risks exist.

For established international suppliers, those policies create both a challenge and an opportunity. Access to U.S. government and defense markets increasingly depends on demonstrating where products are made and how their supply chains are secured.

Gremsy’s response is to establish a U.S. operation offering products designed around those requirements.

The company will showcase its payload portfolio during Commercial UAV Expo 2026 in Las Vegas. Pre-orders for the VIO F1, ORUS L NDAA and LYNX NDAA are now open through Gremsy USA.
