DefendEye and EAGL Technology Partner for Sub-20-Second Gunshot Detection Drone Response

December 11, 2025 by Ian McNabb Leave a Comment

DefendEye and EAGL Technology, Inc. have announced a strategic partnership that integrates gunshot detection sensors with autonomous drone deployment to accelerate public safety response. The combined solution can detect a gunshot and deploy a drone directly above the shooter in under 20 seconds—substantially faster than traditional emergency response timelines measured in minutes.

The partnership establishes a “Cloud-to-Cloud” bridge between DefendEye’s Command Center Cloud and EAGL’s AEROS platform. The system operates autonomously without requiring dedicated infrastructure and can be installed on standard light poles or mobile command solutions, enabling flexible deployment across various public safety environments.

The gunshot detection drone system functions through three integrated stages. EAGL’s DragonFly™ sensor detects gunshots using advanced energy capture and waveform analysis. The AEROS platform validates each detection to eliminate false positives and transmits precise coordinates to DefendEye’s launch system. Upon threat validation, the launch tube deploys the drone in under 10 seconds, with the aircraft reaching position above the detected gunshot location within 20 seconds total.

Once airborne, the drone transmits live video to command centers and police dispatch. The system uses onboard computer vision to identify human subjects and streams real-time video feeds. Operating through Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) capabilities, remote operators can view live footage, share information with tactical units, and maintain full remote control of the drone from the cloud-based AEROS platform.

The drone platform specifications indicate a reusable autonomous aircraft with 30-minute flight time. The system includes a Day/Night camera with infrared illumination and operates in adverse weather conditions including rain and snow. Each launch tube incorporates a 5G SIM card to enable remote video streaming and operational control.

The DragonFly™ gunshot detection sensor operates as a compact, wireless device powered by solar and battery systems housed in a resonance chamber. The sensor supports multiple mounting configurations—flat wall, corner, or pole installations—and provides spherical detection coverage extending up to 18 acres per sensor unit.

“Our technology allows organizations to detect, respond, and communicate real-time threats to law enforcement to stop the threat and save lives,” said Boaz Raz, CEO of EAGL Technology, Inc. “Now, with the partnership of DefendEye, a drone can be autonomously deployed above the shooter in under 20 seconds, transmitting live video, and is fully controlled from EAGL Technology’s cloud-based AEROS platform.”

James Buchheim, CEO of DefendEye, highlighted the operational benefits: “We are thrilled by the integration with EAGL Technology’s AEROS platform. Seeing this in action is so exciting! The Cloud-to-Cloud bridge allows full remote control of our drones—deployed in seconds, not minutes—with built-in AI identifying humans, while being economic to own and install.”
