AgEagle Launches RedEdge-P Green Camera for Precision Agriculture

August 19, 2025 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

New multispectral sensor offers advanced imaging for farming, research, and environmental management

AgEagle Aerial Systems Inc. (NYSE: UAVS) has announced the release of the RedEdge-P™ Green, a new multispectral camera designed to improve precision agriculture and related applications. The company says the sensor will provide farmers, researchers, and environmental managers with more accurate, high-resolution data to inform decisions from planting through harvest.

“The RedEdge-P Green represents a leap forward in precision agriculture, providing unprecedented accuracy and precision in the emerging smart farming vertical,” said Bill Irby, CEO of AgEagle Aerial Systems. “The sensor provides high-resolution multispectral imaging with modular configurations, producing a large volume of detailed, high-resolution multispectral data. We are empowering agronomists and researchers to make data-driven decisions that enhance yields, reduce costs, and help conserve natural resources. This camera will set the new standard in agricultural imaging.”

Designed for Smart Farming

The RedEdge-P Green builds on AgEagle’s existing family of sensors. Available as a standalone unit or paired with the RedEdge-P and RedEdge-P Blue, the camera can provide up to 15 spectral bands. These noise-resistant, data-rich bands are designed to meet the needs of large-scale precision agriculture.

Farmers using the new sensor can detect crop stress early, optimize fertilizer and irrigation, and apply harvesting techniques tailored to crop maturity. AgEagle notes that indices such as the Plant Senescence Reflectance Index (PSRI) allow operators to track crop health at critical growth stages, leading to better yields and reduced inputs.

Applications Beyond Farming

The company expects the camera to be valuable for research and environmental management in addition to agriculture.

  • Researchers gain access to narrow spectral bands useful for machine learning models and advanced crop health studies.

  • Environmental managers can monitor biome health, identify invasive species, and study plant performance across diverse environments and seasons.

The RedEdge-P Green’s unique spectral bands provide insights into chlorophyll, carotenoids, and flavonoids, which can improve tracking during harvest. AgEagle says this enables smarter decisions that can affect crop yield, taste, and storage life.

Deployment and Compliance

The RedEdge-P Green is NDAA-compliant and integrates with multiple drone platforms. Each kit comes with a Calibrated Reflectance Panel (CRP) and a Downwelling Light Sensor (DLS2) for radiometric calibration. These features ensure consistent, reliable results in varying light conditions and support long-term time-series analysis.

Initial production of the RedEdge-P Green has begun, and AgEagle expects the first units to ship this week.

AgEagle Background

Founded in 2010, AgEagle Aerial Systems began as a developer of fixed-wing drones for agriculture. Today, the company delivers flight hardware, sensors, and software through its three Centers of Excellence. Its customers include organizations in agriculture, energy, construction, and government.
