This AI-Driven Counter Drone Tool Offers Cost-Effective Airspace Security for Civilian Sectors

August 12, 2025 by Miriam McNabb 1 Comment

DroneShield Unveils SentryCiv in Response to Rising Threats

DroneShield Ltd has announced the release of SentryCiv, a new counter-drone solution designed for civilian clients. The product aims to protect critical infrastructure, public venues, and other high-risk locations from increasing drone incidents. SentryCiv brings advanced technology to the civilian sector in an affordable and easy-to-use package.

Addressing Drone Threats to Civil Assets

SentryCiv is a passive, non-emitting solution, meaning it does not interfere with existing communication systems. It is suitable for airports, utilities, data centers, stadiums, government buildings, and correctional facilities. The product fits the needs of sites that face a real risk from unauthorized or malicious drone activity but do not have access to military-grade tools or budgets.

Oleg Vornik, CEO of DroneShield, stated, “As drone threats continue to proliferate worldwide, critical infrastructure is increasingly vulnerable to malicious and unauthorized drone activity. SentryCiv offers a comprehensive, scalable solution that provides real-time detection, and situational awareness. This next-gen technology is engineered to seamlessly integrate into existing security frameworks, enabling a rapid response to potential threats without disrupting operations.”

Key Innovations of SentryCiv

SentryCiv offers several essential features:

  • Integrated Command & Control: The Sentry-C2 Civ platform connects operators to real-time alerts, prioritizes threats, logs data, and allows for integration with third-party systems.

  • Drone Signal Detection and Identification: DroneLocator technology tracks drone threats and operators on the map, offering detection capabilities beyond RemoteID.

  • Detection Without Disruption: The RFAI engine identifies many common drone models without interfering with communications on site.

Recognizing the different needs and budgets of civilian users, SentryCiv is available as a subscription service. There are no upfront purchase costs. Users can subscribe and access quarterly software updates that improve detection and add new features. The system’s AI engine is updated regularly, helping users stay current with the latest drone threats.

Tom Adams, Director of Public Safety at DroneShield, commented, “Airspace security for critical infrastructure and public safety has never been more urgent. SentryCiv represents our commitment to making advanced counter-drone solutions accessible and affordable for non-military sectors. This solution is a game-changer for industries like corrections, aviation, and utilities, providing cost-effective, reliable means of protecting critical assets from evolving drone threats.”

Growing Importance of Counter-Drone Technology

The launch of SentryCiv comes as interest in counter-unmanned aerial systems (cUAS) grows rapidly. In recent years, programs such as the Pentagon’s Replicator initiative have focused on the mass deployment of autonomous systems and counter-drone tools. Replicator 2 is tackling the urgent need for scalable, low-collateral solutions to defend America’s most critical installations against small uncrewed aerial systems. These government efforts highlight the need for layered and cost-effective drone defense across both military and civilian domains.

In addition to technology advances, government actions in 2025 are accelerating the cUAS sector. President Donald J. Trump’s “Restoring American Airspace Sovereignty” Executive Order, issued June 6, 2025, established a Federal Task Force to propose solutions for UAS threats. The order calls for expanding detection, enforcement, and training, as well as making drone detection tools available for state, local, tribal, and territorial agencies. This order aims to provide private asset owners with guidance to protect their sites and supports training as the country prepares for major events like the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics.

Legislation is also evolving. The DEFENSE Act, introduced in Congress in May 2025, would allow state and local law enforcement at stadiums and large events to intercept and disable rogue drones using approved counter-UAS systems. This marks a shift from existing law, which previously only gave such authority to federal agencies. The new bill demands federal oversight and sets training and privacy requirements as local agencies adopt these new tools.

Making Civilian Airspace Protection More Accessible

SentryCiv’s introduction is timely as unmanned aerial threats continue to pose challenges for security professionals and infrastructure managers. Both technology and legal frameworks are advancing to meet these challenges. By providing a cost-effective, subscription-based solution with regular updates and scalable features, DroneShield is meeting the growing needs of the civilian market.
