Designed for desert conditions, the Perimeter 8+ WC boasts heat-resistant avionics and the ability to carry heavy payloads in temperatures up to 122°F, making it ideal for government and commercial applications
Skyfront, a drone developer focused on long-distance endurance applications in difficult operating environments, recently announced their new water-cooled Perimeter 8+ WC. Designed for desert conditions, the 8+ includes heat resistant avionics for increased flexibility and peace of mind.
Drones for Extreme Heat
While many drones can struggle to operate reliably when exposed to intense heat, the 8+ is designed to continue its mission in uniquely hot environments. According to their press release, the 8+ was “deployed in desert environments in the United States, carrying heavy payloads during mid-day operations in 45°C (122°F) temperatures.”
Designed for both government and commercial buyers, Skyfront’s solution enables improvised explosive device (IED), landmine, and unexploded ordnance (UXO) detection, while also enabling geophysical exploration, long linear inspection of utilities, pipelines, oil, gas, and power transmission lines in extreme temperatures.
The 8+ is available as a retrofit for Skyfront’s Perimeter 8 drone, which is already in service in more than 30 countries worldwide.The Perimeter 8 can carry 5 kg (11 lb) for 2-3 hours and up to 10 kg (22 lb) for up to one hour. The Skyfront Perimeter 8+ WC upgrades the Perimeter 8’s air-cooled engine to a water-cooled engine and adds heat tolerant avionics for desert operations.
