FlyCart 30, the DJI delivery drone, was announced last August – but has so far only been available in China. On December 6, however, the DJI FlyCart 30 was added to the FAA website list of Remote ID compliant drones, which could indicate that the drone will be offered for sale in the U.S. soon.
You won’t find information on DJI‘s US website, but the drone is being sold in China, and information is available on the DJI China website. Additionally, promotional videos like the one posted below can be found on YouTube: drone writers across the internet have teased out the specs. (Shout out to Zaac Dukowitz who wrote a great piece on the FlyCart 30 for UAVCoach here, when it was released in August.)
The FlyCart 30 sells for $17,000 in China, and it’s an impressive aircraft for the price. The DJI delivery drone can carry a heavy payload, up to 88 pounds with a single battery and 66 pounds with two batteries. There are two means of delivery: in areas where it would be difficult to land, payloads can be lowered on a cable. For stable landing areas, the FlyCart 30 offers a container system.
In addition, FlyCart offers a full suite of safety features and redundancies: including a parachute safety system (currently one of the only ways to meet US standards), obstacle avoidance, battery redundancies, and landing safeguards.
DJI remains the top drone manufacturer in the world. A robust delivery platform could be a strong addition to the DJI portfolio in the US and Europe, as both industrial and retail drone delivery take off.
