DroneTerminus LLC, a technology startup company focused on providing solutions to the drone delivery industry is showcasing its DroneTerminus platform at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017 event.
DroneTerminus is a scalable appliance designed to enable ground-based charging and sense and avoidance systems. The device will also provide a secure and climate controlled environment which will assist a cost-effective and enable safe drone package delivery.
The DroneTerminus appliance was built to universally accept drone delivered packages from multiple drone designs by incorporating modular scanning, landing, and communication technologies that will allow any fleet operator or 3rd party to safely land and deliver a package.
DroneTerminus is a smart platform that is aware of its surroundings that communicates with drones and their operators in real-time, as well as augmenting valuable sense and avoidance data from the ground up.
“We are using thermal camera capture and ultra-wideband scanning to detect any hazards near a landing site and will relay in real-time important data to both a drone and operator. We are the eyes on the ground that can calculate weather and potential hazard data,” said DroneTerminus founder and CEO Joseph McMillian.
“We can also extend a drone’s reach by extending battery life with charging capabilities to ensure maximum delivery radius and provide safe harbor when needed.”
The DroneTerminus, which is web/app controlled, will seek to be a partner in package delivery and will also feature an inductive recharging capability to allow an operator to exponentially increase the delivery footprint. It can be made to facilitate any drone shape/size and has incorporated multiple-technologies into its existing architecture.
“Landing an autonomous drone on a meter squared platform presents a difficult proposition without instantaneous feedback. That is where the DroneTerminus is very beneficial, said McMillian. “A fleet operator can optimize and streamline their entire organization utilizing the DroneTerminus solution.”
Anticipated markets for the DroneTerminus solution are precision-based military, agriculture, medical (including emergency and disaster related needs).
