SkyDrive to Evaluate eVTOL Medical Logistics Routes in Mumbai, Delhi With Air India and Suzuki

August 25, 2026 by Ian McNabb Leave a Comment

The Japanese eVTOL developer identifies radioisotope transport, organ transport and airport parts logistics as priority use cases under the July 2026 feasibility study.

SkyDrive Inc. advanced its joint India feasibility study to a route-evaluation phase on August 25, 2026. The work extends a July 31, 2026 Memorandum of Understanding among SkyDrive, Air India and Suzuki Motor Corporation. That MoU frames a medical air logistics feasibility study for India. The team selected initial operational routes across Mumbai and the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR).

India’s rapid urban growth has intensified traffic congestion in major metropolitan areas. That congestion delays urgent medical shipments and complicates aircraft maintenance. The three partners frame eVTOL medical logistics as a response to those transport bottlenecks. Any future operations require coordination with Indian government and regulatory authorities.

eVTOL medical logistics in Mumbai and Delhi

The first evaluated route targets emergency transport of radioactive isotopes. Cancer diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceuticals that use radioisotopes have extremely short half-lives. Delivery must reach hospitals immediately after production. The proposed route runs from a manufacturing plant in Mumbai to nearby major general hospitals. Reliable air logistics could bypass road traffic and prevent medication degradation.

The second evaluated route focuses on emergency medical and organ transport across the Delhi NCR. Transplant surgery and emergency care demand fast delivery. Chronic Delhi traffic pushes inter-hospital ground transport times to 30 to 90 minutes. SkyDrive projects that its compact eVTOL aircraft could complete the same trips in 10 to 15 minutes.

Aircraft parts transport use case

The study also expanded beyond medical logistics after identifying similar congestion problems in aviation. Gridlock frequently blocks emergency parts deliveries during aircraft maintenance. Those delays cause Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations at major hubs. The parts-transport route runs between collection hubs and maintenance bases near Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport and airport terminals. SkyDrive will assess whether eVTOL parts delivery can reduce aircraft downtime and improve operational reliability.

SkyDrive, Air India and Suzuki plan to broaden the research through additional stakeholder dialogue. More information is available at SkyDrive Inc..
