Matternet Adds Beeline UAS to Part 135 Drone Delivery Operator Network

July 16, 2026 by staff 1 Comment

Mountain View-based Matternet expands its multi-operator model with a new FAA Part 135 partner focused on Bay Area and Los Angeles BVLOS operations.

Matternet, the only holder of an FAA Type Certificate for a drone delivery aircraft, announced July 15, 2026, an operational partnership with Beeline UAS to support expansion of its commercial drone delivery network in the United States. Beeline will operate the Matternet platform under its FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate, joining Ameriflight and UPS Flight Forward as Part 135 partners in the Matternet network.

Bay Area and Los Angeles the first targets

According to Matternet, the partnership will initially focus on expanding beyond visual line of sight operations in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The company says autonomous aerial delivery can move time-sensitive goods faster and more cost-efficiently in regions with heavy traffic congestion and high labor costs. Beeline will operate Matternet’s technology in support of delivery-as-a-service agreements with food, retail and healthcare customers.

CEOs on the operator network

“We are proud to welcome Beeline UAS to our network of Part 135 operators,” said Andreas Raptopoulos, founder and chief executive of Matternet. “Long-term leadership in drone delivery will be determined by the ability to safely deploy, manage and scale fleets of autonomous aircraft through an integrated technology platform and a strong operating network. Beeline will play an important role in that strategy, increasing our capacity to expand efficiently into new markets.”

“Our mission is to make the impossible routine by enabling safe, compliant, and scalable drone operations,” said Toby Woods, founder and chief executive of Beeline UAS. “Matternet has built one of the most advanced drone delivery platforms in the world, and we’re excited to help support the next phase of its growth. Together, we’re creating an operational model that can bring the benefits of drone delivery to more communities across America.”

Multi-operator strategy for scale

Matternet’s multi-operator approach is designed to provide the operational capacity, geographic reach and flexibility required for rapid commercial growth while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance, the company said.

About Matternet and Beeline

Matternet builds the M2 drone, the Matternet Station and the Matternet Software Platform. The company began humanitarian missions in 2014, launched B2B healthcare operations in Europe in 2017 and the U.S. in 2019, and expanded into B2C delivery in Silicon Valley in 2024. Matternet reports more than 60,000 commercial flights across dense urban and suburban environments in the U.S. and Europe, including a long-running UPS hospital delivery network.

Beeline UAS is a B2B operations solutions provider that integrates uncrewed aerial systems into the national airspace system and regulatory framework. Operating under its FAA Part 135 air carrier certificate, Beeline does not build or sell hardware but provides operational infrastructure, regulatory expertise and scalable frameworks for platform partners, according to the company.
