INKAS Expansion Highlights Growing Investment in North American Defense Manufacturing

June 30, 2026 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

INKAS Expands North American Manufacturing with New Facilities in Canada and the U.S.

Company says new production sites will more than double manufacturing space and support growth across armored vehicles, unmanned systems, and special-purpose platforms

Toronto-based INKAS has announced a major expansion of its North American manufacturing operations, adding three new production facilities across Canada and the United States. The company expects the new sites to be fully operational by July 31, 2026.

The expansion will more than double the company’s manufacturing footprint across North America. INKAS says the additional capacity will support growing demand from defense, government, law enforcement, commercial security, and specialized vehicle customers.

The announcement reflects continued investment in North American manufacturing as governments and commercial organizations seek resilient regional supply chains and increased production capacity for defense and security technologies.

Three New Facilities Expand Production Capacity

The expansion includes three newly leased facilities with a combined 273,000 square feet of additional space.

The company will add approximately 42,000 square feet at an additional facility in Toronto. It has also leased a 200,000-square-foot armored vehicle production facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, and a 31,000-square-foot facility in Fort Pierce, Florida.

According to INKAS, the Charlotte facility already supports armored vehicle manufacturing and provides access to an experienced workforce with expertise in that sector. The company says this will help accelerate production without building those capabilities from the ground up.

Together, the new facilities expand production capacity across several product lines, including armored vehicles, tactical platforms, unmanned systems, and special-purpose vehicles.

“This expansion marks an important milestone in the continued growth of INKAS® as a North American manufacturer,” said David Khazanski, CEO of INKAS®. “By adding significant production space across Canada and the United States, we are strengthening our ability to support customers with reliable, scalable, and mission-ready security and defense solutions. This investment reflects our confidence in the long-term demand for advanced protected mobility, unmanned systems, and specialized platforms.”

Growing Manufacturing for Defense and Unmanned Systems

While INKAS is best known for armored vehicles, the company has expanded its portfolio to include unmanned aerial, ground, and maritime platforms, along with counter-UAS systems and related technologies.

The additional manufacturing space is intended to improve production flexibility and operational resilience while supporting current and future programs. The company says the expansion will also help it serve both domestic and international customers more efficiently.

For the drone industry, the announcement highlights another example of North American investment in manufacturing capacity. As governments continue to emphasize secure supply chains and domestic production for defense-related technologies, companies with manufacturing operations in Canada and the United States may be positioned to respond more quickly to evolving customer requirements.

Investment Includes Workforce Growth

INKAS says the expansion also focuses on building long-term manufacturing capability through workforce development.

“Beyond expanding our production footprint, this investment is about creating skilled jobs, supporting local economies, and building long-term manufacturing capability in North America,” said Margarita Simkin, Chairwoman of INKAS®. “As these facilities come online, they will create opportunities for engineers, technicians, production specialists, and support teams across Canada and the United States. We believe that investing in people and manufacturing infrastructure is essential to building a stronger, more resilient security and defense industry.”

According to the company, the new facilities will support engineers, production specialists, technicians, and other manufacturing roles as operations ramp up.

Founded more than 30 years ago, INKAS designs and manufactures armored vehicles and integrated security systems. Its product portfolio includes armored passenger vehicles, tactical platforms, armored personnel carriers, unmanned aerial vehicles, cash-in-transit vehicles, and custom-built special-purpose systems for government, defense, and commercial customers worldwide.
