Antigravity A1 Introduces 8K 360 Capture to the Skies

August 14, 2025 by Miriam McNabb 2 Comments

New drone offers immersive aerial storytelling with intuitive controls and lightweight design

Antigravity A1: A New Way to Experience Drone Flight

Antigravity, a consumer drone brand developed by Insta360 and partners, has announced the launch of its first product: the Antigravity A1. The company says it is the world’s first drone to feature 8K 360-degree capture, combining an immersive flying experience with intuitive controls designed for creators, families, and first-time pilots.

At the center of the A1 is a dual-lens system. Cameras mounted on the top and bottom of the drone allow full 360-degree capture with no blind spots. The design also enables what the company calls an “invisible drone effect,” achieved using advanced image stitching. When viewed through the companion goggles or in post-processed footage, the drone disappears from view.

Immersive 360 Flight and Intuitive Controls

The A1 includes a head-tracked viewing system called Vision goggles, paired with a Grip controller. This system separates viewing from flying. Pilots can look in one direction while flying in another, using hand gestures instead of traditional joystick controls. Antigravity says this approach provides a new level of immersion for users.

“With Antigravity’s unique FreeMotion technology and responsive head tracking, pilots can look freely in any direction while flying the drone using intuitive hand gestures,” the company said. The live 360-degree view can also be saved and watched later, allowing users to explore different perspectives with each replay.

Compact and Creative: Designed for Everyday Use

Weighing just 249 grams, the A1 fits within regulatory limits for license-free flight in many countries. The size makes it travel-ready and easy to launch quickly. According to Antigravity, the camera system builds on Insta360’s popular X Series and gives creators the flexibility to reframe shots after flight. Footage can be exported in any aspect ratio without losing quality.

The drone supports creative effects such as Tiny Planet views, horizon flips, and dynamic camera moves. This feature set opens up cinematic FPV-style footage to a wider range of users.

Built for Safety and Ease of Use

Antigravity has focused on simplicity and safety. The A1 includes return-to-home functionality and a payload detection system. This feature ensures that the drone is not modified or misused, keeping its focus on storytelling and exploration.

“‘We didn’t want to just build another drone. We wanted to create an entirely new way to fly,’ said BC Nie, Head of Marketing at Antigravity. ‘A1 is the first step in reimagining flight as something anyone can enjoy — something that is safe, intuitive, expressive, and endlessly creative.’”

Key Features of the Antigravity A1

  • 8K 360 capture with top-and-bottom lens configuration

  • Lightweight at 249g, license-free in most regions

  • Invisible drone effect via stitching

  • Grip controller for natural hand-gesture flight

  • Vision goggles with immersive head tracking

  • Full post-flight reframing and multi-angle editing

  • Safety features including return-to-home and payload detection

Launch Timeline and Creator Opportunity

The Antigravity A1 is set for global launch in January 2026. Pricing and bundle options will be revealed closer to the release date. In the meantime, the company is inviting creators to take part in a co-creation program.

Selected applicants will receive early access to a pre-production A1. Their feedback may influence the final retail product, and top contributors will have a chance to win part of a $20,000 reward pool.

Applications are open now at www.antigravity.tech/hub.

Besides the lens configuration, looks like a mini.
