New UAV Contract Expands Drone Deliveries to Lithuanian and Ukrainian Armed Forces
Vilnius-based drone company Granta Autonomy has announced a €1 million contract with the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence (MoD) to supply its first-person-view (FPV) GA-10FPV-AI quadcopter drone. The UAVs will be delivered to both the Lithuanian military and Ukrainian armed forces as part of a larger €8 million procurement project.
This initiative will supply over 2,300 drones to Lithuania and nearly 5,000 to Ukraine, with deliveries expected to begin by the end of September and completed by year-end.
Supporting Ukraine and Expanding Operations
“This significant order from the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence is a major milestone for Granta Autonomy,” said Gediminas Guoba, founder and CEO. “Our drones are already proving their effectiveness on Ukrainian battlefields, and we are ramping up production to fulfil this new contract by the end of the year.”
Granta Autonomy’s drones are currently in use on the frontlines in Ukraine. The company plans to expand its operations further, with Guoba noting that they are “actively pursuing additional opportunities with the Lithuanian Government and other NATO partners.”
The GA-10FPV-AI: A Versatile Solution for Modern Combat
The GA-10FPV-AI is designed for various military applications, featuring a quadcopter frame with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capabilities. With a payload capacity of up to 3 kg, it is capable of carrying diverse equipment. The drone operates autonomously, even in challenging environments such as radio silence or GNSS-denied areas, making it highly adaptable to different mission profiles.
The system includes a ground control station with FPV goggles, a controller, a battery charger, antennas, and a monitor for external video display. It also offers options for video transmission frequencies and camera types, further enhancing its versatility.
Accelerated Growth and Continued Innovation
Founded in 2015 by former Lithuanian military engineers, Granta Autonomy has grown rapidly. In July 2024, the company secured €1 million in seed funding, which has helped accelerate the development of its UAVs and related technologies.
With this latest contract, Granta Autonomy is solidifying its role in supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts while continuing to develop cutting-edge UAV solutions.
