Less hype, more substance?

We’ve seen plenty of bold industry reports in the past. Drone Industry Insights says its data collection and analysis is based on “a unique bottom-up approach to measuring the commercial drone market using actual data and primary sources. As a result of this complex model, the figures and topics covered in this report are both comprehensive and reliable. They are a product of both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, and a look beyond the hype that drones have experienced in the past few years.”

The 93-page report US Drone Market Report contains a five-year forecast of US drone market figures for 2019-2024, broken down by segment, industry and application method. It contains an analysis of US drone regulations, as well as a thorough outline of investment figures in the US drone market in 2012-2018 and key investment deals, mergers and partnerships in the US in 2018.

The report also looks ahead to future trends and opportunities to look out for on the drone market.

5 Things to Know About the US Drone Market

In an article published today, DII shared five insights from its findings.

The first is something that most industry watchers will know already: that the US represents the largest drone market in the world. The article goes on to predict that while the US will remain in top spot for the foreseeable future, “the Chinese drone market is slowly closing that gap.”

Second is a bold prediction: that the US commercial and private drone market will almost triple in size over the next five years.

In part that will be reflected by prediction number three: that US commercial drone unit sales will quadruple between 2018 and 2024.

Point four is about investment in the US drone space. Drone Industry Analysts says America is currently home to more than 50% of global drone investments. This investment dominance dipped slightly under 50% last year, but no other country comes close to the level of disclosed drone investment as the United States.

The final headline point refers to the ongoing work of the FAA, which is putting the pieces together to integrate drone operations into US airspace. As well as the various initiatives coming together to build a UTM, DII points to the recent milestone that was the FAA’s approval of Wing to launch drone delivery services in the state of Virginia later this year.
