Drone Graffiti Artist Who Tagged Kendal Jenner’s Billboard Goes Open Source

There’s a new graffiti artist in town, one that can reach heights up to a 100 feet without much effort. Well, maybe he’s not totally new because KATSU has been performing graffiti for quite some time now. But this is first time the feces portrait painter and graffiti artist has used a drone to do what he loves most.

Through the use of a slightly modified quadcopter, KATSU was able to spray a red line over Kendall Jenner’s face on a huge billboard located in NYC. While it wasn’t as thick of a line as he would’ve liked, it was still quite noticeable. After his recent stunt, KATSU wants everyone to have the capability of using such a drone to carry out their graffiti.

Therefore, he has released the ICARUS ONE, also known as the first open-source paint drone in the world. People interested can go to the ICARUS ONE website and read through the meticulous guide to building their own graffiti drone. They can even get a list of items to buy that are necessary for the drone to function. These include a steel tomato cage that holds the spray paint can and of course, the drone that will fly to great heights to achieve its graffiti feats.

KATSU’s guide has been created for the DJI Phantom 2, which can run up to about $500. While this may all sound easy, building the final product is complex. You need to know how to solder and must be able to use a 3D printer to create the contraption that holds and uses the spray paint can. With that said, if you have any technical experience, it won’t be a difficult task for you. For those who don’t want to get into the mess, there’s the pre-made graffiti drone which will be available only to a select few; those who the famous KATSU approves.
