The all-electric Wingcopter 262 carries a 262-centimeter (103-inch) wingspan, a 150-kilometer (93-mile) tactical range and a 10-kilogram (22-pound) maximum takeoff weight.
Wingcopter introduced the Wingcopter 262 on September 14, 2026 from Düsseldorf. The all-electric, vertical take-off and landing fixed-wing aircraft targets defense and security users. Tactical range reaches 150 kilometers (93 miles). Flight endurance runs up to six hours. Maximum takeoff weight sits at 10 kilograms (22 pounds). The 262-centimeter (103-inch) wingspan gives the aircraft its name.
The Wingcopter 262 supports reconnaissance missions across extended tactical areas and provides persistent aerial surveillance over long periods. It carries AI-enabled electro-optical and infrared cameras, data and video links plus positioning technology proven in Ukraine operations. Modular quick-swap batteries reduce turnaround time on the ground. A single operator can prepare the aircraft for a mission within minutes, with no launch infrastructure required. The design supports integration with the open architectures of existing battle management systems.
Ten years of Wingcopter engineering behind the 262
Wingcopter drew on more than a decade of unmanned aircraft development for the new platform. Resilient navigation lets the aircraft operate in GNSS-denied environments. The tilt-rotor architecture is patented, and proprietary software handles transitions between vertical and cruise flight modes. Both the Wingcopter 198 and Wingcopter 262 use tilt-rotor VTOL with fixed-wing cruise for long-range efficiency in adverse weather. Wingcopter GmbH employs more than 150 staff in Germany. The company has raised more than €120 million (about $130 million) from European and international investors.
Wingcopter Security and Defence expands portfolio
The Wingcopter 262 launch follows the recent creation of Wingcopter Security and Defence (WSD). The new business unit extends Wingcopter activities in logistics and surveying into defense and security. WSD portfolio also includes the Wingcopter 198. That platform sits below 25 kilograms (55 pounds) MTOW and covers logistics, reconnaissance and surveying.
Wingcopter is also cooperating with TAF Industries under the “Build with Ukraine” initiative. The partnership covers mass production of Ukrainian reconnaissance drones and delivery of the Wingcopter 262 to Ukraine.
