RPX Technologies Lands Embir-3 Thermal Camera on Blue UAS Framework

May 11, 2026 by Ian McNabb Leave a Comment

The Stillwater, Oklahoma firm secures NDAA compliance and DIU listing for its compact thermal imaging payload aimed at unmanned aircraft and loitering munitions.

RPX Technologies has added its Embir-3 thermal camera to the Blue UAS Framework. The Stillwater, Oklahoma-based company announced the listing on May 8, 2026. The camera is now available as a trusted thermal imaging component for unmanned aircraft systems and related defense, public safety, and government applications.

The Defense Innovation Unit evaluated the Embir-3 through the Blue UAS process. The framework lists vetted, NDAA-compliant UAS components, software, and modules for government and industry partners.

Embir-3 Joins a Growing Pool of Blue UAS Thermal Cameras

The Embir-3 targets applications where size, weight, power, compliance, and cost all matter. Its compact thermal imaging package fits unmanned aircraft, loitering munitions, autonomous systems, defense platforms, and public safety operations.

NDAA-compliant thermal payloads have become a critical building block for U.S. drone programs. Earlier coverage from Dronelife noted rising demand for trusted, ITAR-free thermal modules across defense and OEM markets.

The Embir-3 gives integrators a U.S.-built option that fits the secure supply chain requirements for federal contracts.

“The Embir-3 was built for customers who need a compact, capable, and trusted thermal imaging solution that can be integrated into mission-critical unmanned systems,” said Michael Fox, Chief Executive Officer of RPX Technologies. “Its listing on the Blue UAS Framework gives customers confidence that Embir-3 has been evaluated and is available as an NDAA-compliant thermal camera option for UAS programs.”

Path to Faster Defense Integration

The Blue UAS Framework reduces acquisition risk for federal, defense, and public safety buyers. The framework now sits under the Defense Contract Management Agency, which manages a tiered Blue UAS Cleared and Blue UAS Select system.

That structure speeds approvals for components that meet supply chain, cybersecurity, and connectivity standards. The Embir-3 listing gives UAS developers a faster path to a thermal payload without rebuilding compliance documentation.

“RPX Technologies focuses on rapid, practical innovation for customers building mission-critical systems,” Fox added. “For UAS developers and government customers, Embir-3 provides a path to integrate a trusted thermal imaging payload without compromising performance, compliance, or schedule.”

RPX Technologies will demonstrate the Embir-3 at AUVSI XPONENTIAL 2026 in Detroit, Booth 40020. Customers, integrators, and government stakeholders can meet the team on the show floor.

The company designs advanced imaging systems, embedded electronics, AI, and rapid product development tools. It serves defense, aerospace, industrial, and autonomous systems customers from its Oklahoma headquarters.
