Terra Drone commences field deployment of its Terra A1 interceptor drone in Ukraine through investee company Amazing Drones.
Terra Drone Corporation has begun operational deployment of its Terra A1 interceptor drone in Ukraine. The deployment runs through Amazing Drones, a Ukraine-based investee company. The two companies jointly announced the platform on March 31.
Interceptor Drone Enters Field Evaluation with Ukrainian Military
A Ukrainian military unit has already received the Terra A1 for evaluation under real-world conditions. The deployment follows a phased model common in Ukraine. Equipment goes to a unit first, then expands based on field results.
The Terra A1 targets a cost asymmetry in modern drone warfare. Traditional air defense systems can cost several hundred million yen per interception. Interceptor drones operate at roughly JPY 300,000 to JPY 1 million per unit. The Terra A1 reaches 300 km/h with a 32 km range, exceeding the typical speed of Shahed-type attack drones.
The Chief of the Anti-Shahed Unit of the Chernihiv Region Defense Forces stated: “Terra A1 is easy to control and responds very smoothly even during sharp turns. The digital daytime camera captures targets clearly, making it extremely important for daytime operations. Safety and usability clearly reflect actual user needs.”
Field Data Drives Interceptor Drone Development
Terra Drone designed the Terra A1 for rapid deployability and ease of field use. Electric propulsion provides low noise and heat signatures for stealth operations. A single unit can complete surveillance, detection, and interception in one 15-minute flight.
Operator feedback from the deployment feeds directly into product improvements. Terra Drone plans to scale mass production once it verifies effectiveness against Shahed-type threats. The company is also considering expansion to other regions facing similar low-cost drone threats.
