Fortem DroneHunter and TrueView Radar Join Lockheed Martin Sanctum

March 19, 2026 by staff 1 Comment

Fortem Technologies has announced a new contract with Lockheed Martin to deploy autonomous counter-drone systems for critical infrastructure protection. The agreement centers on integrating Fortem’s drone-focused hardware with Lockheed Martin’s Sanctum C-UAS Mission Management software.

Autonomous Counter-Drone Systems for Infrastructure

Fortem will supply its TrueView radar sensors and DroneHunter autonomous interceptors for the program. The systems will integrate with Sanctum to create a persistent, layered defense against unauthorized or hostile drones in complex airspace. The focus is on detecting, tracking, and intercepting small unmanned aircraft that threaten sensitive facilities.

Fortem CEO Jon Gruen said the deployment reflects rising demand for operational counter-drone capabilities. “Fortem has spent years proving our counter-drone technology in conflict zones and at some of the highest-profile events in the world,” Gruen said. “This contract puts that same capability to work protecting critical infrastructure.”

DroneHunter Interceptors and TrueView Radar

DroneHunter interceptors operate autonomously once cued by Fortem’s TrueView radar sensors and related command-and-control software. The system is designed to identify drone threats and then launch interceptors that can engage targets without pilot input. Fortem notes that it is currently the only company authorized to deploy a drone-on-drone kinetic interceptor in U.S. airspace.

The SkyDome Family of Systems combines TrueView sensors, SkyDome command software, and DroneHunter aircraft into a single counter-UAS architecture. This configuration supports military, government, and commercial users who need to mitigate drone risks around bases, venues, and infrastructure sites.

Growing Demand for Counter-Drone Solutions

The Lockheed Martin contract follows several recent awards for Fortem’s counter-drone technology. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has selected Fortem to help protect U.S. venues during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The U.S. Army has also issued a three-year, 18 million dollar contract for counter-drone systems and support at Army locations worldwide.

Fortem’s counter-drone systems have seen operational use in Ukraine, the Middle East, and East Asia. Headquartered in Lindon, Utah, the company is privately held and backed by investors including Lockheed Martin, DCVC, Toshiba, AE Industrial Partners, AIM13, and Signia Venture Partners.

More information on Fortem is available from their website.

Great integration! Fortem DroneHunter and TrueView radar joining Lockheed Martin’s Sanctum counter-drone system is a smart move. Adding active kinetic intercept alongside radar detection and AI tracking gives Sanctum a complete layered defense capability against sUAS threats. Solid enhancement for force protection and critical infrastructure. Nice work by both teams!
