Africa Pavilion to Debut at XPONENTIAL Europe 2026

African Drone Forum initiative highlights growing role of African innovators in global autonomy ecosystem

Africa Pavilion XPONENTIAL Europe 2026

The African Drone Forum (ADF) has announced the launch of the first-ever Africa Pavilion at XPONENTIAL Europe 2026, set to take place March 24 to 26 in Düsseldorf, Germany. The Pavilion marks the first time Africa will present a unified, continent-level presence at a major international event focused on uncrewed systems, autonomy, and robotics.

The initiative reflects growing global interest in African drone and robotics innovation. It also signals increased engagement between African stakeholders and international industry, government, and investment communities.

The Pavilion is supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the project “Triangular cooperation for digital innovations Made in Africa,” implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The effort focuses on sustainable innovation, private sector development, and the responsible use of drone and AI technologies across Africa.

A Platform for African Innovation

XPONENTIAL Europe is a major international event that brings together leaders from industry, government, research, and investment. The Africa Pavilion will serve as a dedicated platform for African companies to present export-ready technologies and services.

ADF says the Pavilion is designed to move beyond simple visibility. It aims to support business development, partnerships, and market entry discussions between African and European stakeholders.

“Creating the first Africa Pavilion at a major international uncrewed systems exhibition is a strategic statement,” said Eno Umoh, Chairman of the African Drone Forum. The Pavilion will feature a curated group of companies and ecosystem leaders working across sectors such as infrastructure, public services, climate resilience, logistics, energy, and humanitarian applications.

Supporting Collaboration and Policy Dialogue

The Africa Pavilion will include several related initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration between Africa and Europe. These include the publication of the Africa Pavilion Magazine, which will feature participating organizations and the 2026 State of the African Drone Industry Report.

ADF will also host a closed-door EU–Africa UAS Leadership Roundtable in partnership with UAV DACH. The roundtable will bring together regulators, manufacturers, investors, and other stakeholders to discuss regulatory alignment, investment opportunities, and cross-border collaboration.

The BMZ-supported project behind the Pavilion focuses on advancing digital innovation across Africa. It promotes cross-border knowledge transfer and supports the development of data-driven solutions using drone technologies. Current efforts include work in biodiversity and climate applications.

Partners from Côte d’Ivoire, including the Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Transition Écologique (MINETE), CURAT – Centre Universitaire de Recherche et d’Application en Télédétection, and the Ivorian Civil Drone Operators Association, are expected to present use cases and regulatory initiatives at the Pavilion.

Growing Global Interest in African Drone Ecosystem

The Africa Pavilion is expected to attract attention from European governments, development agencies, investors, and corporate buyers. Many are seeking partners with proven deployment experience in real-world conditions.

Malte Seifert, Director of XPONENTIAL Europe at Messe Düsseldorf, welcomed the initiative and noted its role in expanding the event’s global perspective.

ADF, a non-profit organization, works to advance the responsible adoption of drone and robotics technologies across Africa. The organization collaborates with governments, development partners, and private sector stakeholders to support ecosystem growth, training, and policy development.

GIZ, which supports the Pavilion through its BMZ-funded program, brings decades of experience in international development. The organization works across sectors including economic development, energy, environment, and security, with a focus on sustainable outcomes.

XPONENTIAL Europe 2026 will showcase a wide range of autonomous technologies across air, land, water, and space domains. The addition of the Africa Pavilion reflects the increasing role of emerging markets in shaping the future of the global drone industry.
