Trust Automation Awarded $490M Air Force Counter-UAS Contract

January 21, 2026 by staff Leave a Comment

Trust Automation, Inc. has secured a $490-million indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract from the U.S. Air Force to develop counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS) capabilities through 2030. The San Luis Obispo, California-based company will conduct research, development, prototyping, and production of counter-drone technologies at its facility, with work expected to conclude by August 20, 2030.

The contract reflects growing military focus on counter-drone defenses as unmanned systems proliferate across modern warfare. “We’re incredibly proud to have been selected for this critical C-UAS project,” says Ty Safreno, Trust’s Chief Executive Officer. “This contract underscores our commitment to developing cutting-edge anti-drone technologies that address our most pressing security challenges, protect our armed forces and contribute to the safety of our nation.”

Counter-UAS Technology Focus

Trust Automation’s counter-drone portfolio centers on the Small-Unmanned Air Defense System (SUADS), designed for both fixed-site base defense and rapid deployment in combat environments. The system provides layered detection, tracking, and defeat capabilities against Group 1, 2, and 2+ unmanned aircraft threats, offering modular solutions adaptable to various operational requirements.

The company’s counter-drone toolkit also includes the GAT UAS Jammer, a weapons-mountable system targeting GNSS bands to counter unmanned aircraft operations. Combined with its broader radio frequency product suite, Trust equips warfighters with scalable counter-UAS options for securing critical operations.

The San Luis Obispo company specializes in counter-small unmanned aircraft system (C-SUAS) technologies that directly counter drone activity in command-and-control and GNSS bands—addressing technical vulnerabilities in commercial and military unmanned systems.

Looking Forward

As counter-UAS capabilities become increasingly central to military strategy, this contract positions Trust Automation as a key supplier of counter-drone technologies for U.S. Air Force operations. The company’s 104,000-square-foot facility and engineering team will support development and production efforts over the four-year contract period.
