Archer Aviation Launches Multiple Applications for eVTOL Integration Pilot Program

December 29, 2025 by Ian McNabb Leave a Comment

Archer Aviation has announced partnerships with multiple U.S. cities to submit applications under the White House’s eVTOL Integration Pilot Program (eIPP), designed to accelerate electric air taxi operations across the nation. Established through President Trump’s “Unleashing Drone Dominance” Executive Order, the program creates operational pathways for leading American eVTOL companies to transition from development into early commercial services.

The applications represent public-private partnerships with cities across California, Texas, Florida, Georgia, and New York. Archer’s strategy focuses on establishing operational foundations including local operations teams, infrastructure development and upgrades, and close coordination with public safety and emergency response agencies. The company’s application with Huntington Beach, California carries exclusive status, making Archer the sole air taxi operator involved in that submission.

eVTOL Integration Pilot Program Timeline and Technical Framework

The eVTOL Integration Pilot Program, led by the DOT and FAA, brings together industry, regulators, and local governments to establish early eVTOL operations while preparing cities for widespread adoption of electric air taxis. The FAA is expected to review applications during this initial phase and announce selections in early to mid-2026, with early operational activity anticipated to begin later in the year.

Archer’s work on the eVTOL Integration Pilot Program aligns with the recently unveiled National AAM Strategy, which outlines a coordinated roadmap for safely integrating eVTOL aircraft into the national airspace. The strategy encompasses certification, operations, infrastructure, and early deployment frameworks, featuring 40 recommendations to support operations and advance domestic manufacturing and job creation.

LA28 Olympics and Operational Vision

Huntington Beach’s selection reflects Archer’s broader strategic positioning, particularly its designation as the Official Air Taxi Provider of the 2028 Olympic Games. Mayor Casey McKeon commented, “We’re glad to partner with Archer to explore a safe eVTOL demonstration in Huntington Beach, bringing new opportunities to our community and keeping our city at the forefront of innovation.”

Archer founder and CEO Adam Goldstein stated, “Through our close work with the Administration, DOT, FAA and other federal agencies, we now have the clearest path to market this industry has ever had. The focus now is execution—building, deploying and flying these aircraft here in the United States.”

The company has spent several years collaborating with federal, state, and local agencies, including participation in the Advanced Air Mobility Interagency Working Group and contributions to Special Federal Aviation Regulation (SFAR) development covering air taxis. These applications represent the culmination of that regulatory engagement and position Archer as a key player in American advanced air mobility infrastructure.
