Quantum Systems Raises €180 Million to Expand Multi-Domain UAV Capabilities

December 2, 2025 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

Europe’s first dual-use UAV unicorn triples valuation as the US and Europe race to scale defense-ready drone systems

Quantum Systems has extended its Series C funding round with an additional €180 million, tripling its valuation and driving its status as Europe’s leading dual-use UAV company. The new investment marks the largest private capital raise in Europe’s dual-use sector.

The round, led by Balderton Capital, brings Quantum Systems’ total 2025 funding to €340 million. The company’s valuation now exceeds €3 billion, placing it among the most significant drone and autonomous systems developers in the region.

A Major Move as Western Nations Race to Scale UAV Technology

Both the United States and Europe are racing to scale defense-capable UAV systems. Conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, growing geopolitical tensions, and shifting national security strategies have pushed governments to increase investment in autonomous platforms.

Western defense agencies are seeking systems that can be produced at scale, operate in contested environments, and integrate AI for autonomous mission support. Quantum Systems’ rapid expansion reflects this broader push to develop trusted, home-grown unmanned systems that can support defense and civilian needs.

Expanding Across Air, Land, and Maritime Domains

Quantum Systems plans to use the new capital to grow its multi-domain unmanned capabilities. The company is expanding across air, land, and maritime use cases, all connected through its mission software platform, MOSAIC UXS.

According to the announcement, the funding will accelerate development in AI, software, and hardware across all domains. The company will also pursue strategic acquisitions to strengthen and broaden its offerings.

Quantum Systems has already acquired several companies this year, including AirRobot, Nordic Unmanned, and Spleenlab, and has integrated their technologies into its portfolio.

Leadership and Investor Perspectives

Company leaders say the new funding demonstrates the strength of the team and its systems in real-world conditions.

Florian Seibel, co-CEO and co-founder of Quantum Systems, said: “Triple unicorn status is a testament to our team’s ability to build systems and a company that performs in the most demanding real-world conditions. We will now accelerate our development of hardware, software and AI to become the defining leader in multi-domain unmanned systems.”

Co-CEO Sven Kruck highlighted the company’s role in supporting European and allied defense capabilities. He said: “We are building the powerhouse of intelligent unmanned systems. Quantum Systems will accelerate its global growth across countries and domains, to secure Europe, NATO and its allies.”

Investor Balderton Capital emphasized the importance of European sovereignty in defense technology.

Rana Yared, General Partner at Balderton Capital, said: “We are partnering with Quantum Systems to help them continue to fulfill the promise of European sovereignty in defence and dual-use technology. As geopolitical instability rises and security priorities shift, the need for home-grown, trusted European innovation has never been greater. The Quantum Systems team pairs technical excellence with operational discipline and has demonstrated the ambition required to lead this category globally. We are proud to stand by their side, as Quantum Systems enters its next phase of scale.”

Supporting NATO, Allied Forces, and Ukraine

Quantum Systems’ platforms are already in use with NATO partners across Europe, as well as in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Ukraine.

Its systems have supported Ukrainian forces since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, making the company one of Europe’s most visible contributors to unmanned operations in active conflict.

The company now employs up to 1,000 people across Germany, Ukraine, the US, Australia, Romania, the UK, and the Baltic states.

With this latest funding, Quantum Systems aims to deepen its global reach and advance the autonomous systems that European and US defense agencies now say they need at scale.
