KULR Partners with Amprius and Molicel to Launch Advanced Drone Batteries

August 20, 2025 by Miriam McNabb 1 Comment

New KULR ONE Air platform set for Q4 2025 productio

KULR Technology Group, Inc. (NYSE American: KULR) has announced new strategic partnerships with Amprius Technologies (NYSE: AMPX) and Molicel, a subsidiary of Taiwan Cement (TWSE: 1101.TW). The collaboration will support the launch of KULR ONE Air (K1A), a family of advanced battery systems built for the growing unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) market.

Initial sample shipments began in July 2025, with volume production scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. The company plans to offer both off-the-shelf configurations for rapid deployment and customizable solutions to meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM) requirements.

Battery Technology for Next-Generation UAS

The K1A platform combines KULR’s thermal management technologies with Amprius’ ultra-high energy density SiCore® cylindrical cells and Molicel’s high-power P50B cells. This mix is designed to enhance flight time, safety, and performance across a range of drone applications.

“Our new K1A product line represents a pivotal step forward in bringing space-proven technologies to the UAS market,” said Michael Mo, CEO of KULR Technology Group. “We’ve built our legacy on delivering energy and thermal solutions for applications where failure is not an option. With K1A, we’re applying that same level of performance and reliability to advanced unmanned aircraft systems, which are slated to become more common in our everyday lives.”

The systems are engineered for fixed-wing, rotary, and eVTOL drone platforms. Key features include lightweight lithium-ion chemistries, modular and scalable form factors, and a rugged design for extreme operating environments.

The Collaboration

Amprius highlighted the role of its technology in expanding drone capabilities. “Amprius’ silicon anode battery technology delivers industry-leading 500 Wh/kg energy density in an ultra-lightweight form factor, key to extending flight time and payload capacity in next-generation drones,” said Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. “Pairing our SiCore cells with KULR’s ONE Air product line brings together performance and safety in one integrated solution for advanced defense and commercial UAS missions.”

Molicel executives echoed the focus on mission reliability. Frank So, Executive Vice President of Molicel, noted: “This collaboration with KULR reflects our shared focus on performance and reliability in mission-critical applications. Our P50B cells are designed for high power output, exceptional cycle life, and robust thermal stability — ideal for unmanned aerial systems operating in extreme conditions.”

A Growing Market for Drone Power Systems

The announcement arrives as demand for advanced drone technologies accelerates. Market research projects the global drone battery market will rise from $9.5 billion in 2025 to $49.6 billion by 2035, driven by increasing adoption in both defense and commercial sectors.

The launch also comes during a shift in U.S. drone policy. Executive orders issued earlier this summer by President Donald Trump aim to boost domestic drone manufacturing. In addition, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has proposed new regulatory reforms to streamline UAS operations. Under the proposal, operators would no longer need individual flight waivers, but drones would require onboard collision-avoidance systems.

If enacted, these policy changes could accelerate the adoption of drones in agriculture, emergency response, infrastructure inspection, and last-mile delivery — applications where battery performance is critical.

About the Companies

KULR Technology Group, Inc. builds energy storage and thermal management solutions for aerospace, defense, and commercial markets. The company also maintains a Bitcoin-Plus Treasury program, allocating up to 90% of excess cash to bitcoin.

Amprius Technologies, Inc. manufactures high-energy and high-power lithium-ion batteries, with energy density validated at up to 500 Wh/kg.

Molicel, a subsidiary of Taiwan Cement, develops lithium-ion batteries for high-power applications with a focus on cycle life and thermal stability.
