ANRA Technologies Becomes First EASA-Certified U-space Service Provider

May 14, 2025 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

Milestone Achieved at Airspace World Marks Major Step Forward for Europe’s Drone Airspace Integration

ANRA Secures First-Ever EASA Certification for U-space Services

ANRA Technologies has become the first company certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as a U-space Service Provider (USSP), marking a significant step forward for Europe’s drone integration efforts. The certification was announced today at Airspace World in Lisbon, one of Europe’s leading airspace management events.

U-space refers to the European framework for managing unmanned aircraft traffic in low-altitude airspace. EASA’s certification is part of a new centralized system to ensure safety, security, and interoperability of these drone services across member states.

Rigorous Certification Process

Over the past two years, ANRA underwent a detailed evaluation in close partnership with EASA. The process assessed the company’s readiness in areas like safety, cybersecurity, business continuity, data protection, and software assurance.

“This certification is a landmark milestone for our company and for the European drone ecosystem,” said Amit Ganjoo, Founder and CEO of ANRA Technologies. “We have invested significantly in maturing our European operations, and this process has made us not just a stronger technology company, but a stronger aviation organisation.”

ANRA’s certification covers more than just its software platform. It also reflects its ability to manage incidents, protect data, and provide reliable oversight of U-space services.

A Collaborative Effort with EASA

Patricia Garcia Pastor, U-space Certification Manager at ANRA Technologies Spain, said the journey to certification was both demanding and transformative.

“We’ve grown tremendously as an organisation during this journey,” she said. “Working closely with EASA, we’ve built robust internal systems and processes that align with the high bar set for U-space safety and reliability. It’s been a challenging but immensely rewarding experience.”

EASA officials praised ANRA’s commitment to the process and its broader implications for the industry.

“ANRA demonstrated a deep commitment to meeting the rigorous safety, security, and performance standards required of U-space services,” said Stéphane Vaubourg, U-space Project Manager at EASA. “This milestone not only validates their readiness but also sets a strong precedent for future USSP applicants across Europe.”

Readiness to Scale Across Europe

With certification in hand, ANRA is now ready to provide U-space services across several European countries. The company is in active discussions with national regulators and air navigation service providers. Announcements on upcoming deployments are expected soon.

Florian Guillermet, Executive Director of EASA, added: “ANRA’s achievement of becoming the first certified U-space Service Provider demonstrates what is possible through rigorous compliance and technical maturity. It sets the benchmark for others and moves us closer to a safe, secure, and interoperable European U-space ecosystem.”

A Framework for Future Growth in Drone Airspace Integration

ANRA’s certification marks more than an individual success. It establishes a tested and repeatable process for other providers seeking EASA approval. This supports the European Commission’s Drones Strategy 2.0, which aims to scale complex drone operations, including beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), across the continent.

By laying the foundation for consistent certification across borders, EASA and ANRA have opened the door to safer and more coordinated drone activity in Europe’s skies.
