Project Aims to Drive Drone Innovation and Manufacturing in Andhra Pradesh
Garuda Aerospace has unveiled plans to invest Rs. 100 crore (approximately $11.55 million USD) to develop Andhra Pradesh as India’s first ‘Drone City.’ The announcement took place during a strategic meeting with India’s Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Ram Mohan Naidu Ji. The initiative is designed to position India as a global hub for drone technology by fostering innovation, research, and development in the sector.
Driving India’s Drone Industry Forward
During the meeting, Garuda Aerospace’s CEO highlighted the company’s role in national development and its alignment with ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.’ The discussion also covered Garuda Aerospace’s ongoing contributions to the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ initiative, which empowers rural women through drone technology. The company’s rapid expansion across India and into global markets was another key focus, underscoring its ambitions for growth and international competitiveness.

Garuda Aerospace has received six DGCA approvals, including Type Certification and RPTO approvals. These certifications affirm the company’s technical expertise and adherence to regulatory standards, which are crucial for responsible drone deployment.
The announcement comes as governments worldwide, including the United States, seek to diversify their drone supply chains and reduce reliance on Chinese-manufactured drones. Countries like India are looking to establish themselves as reliable alternatives for drone manufacturing, leveraging the increasing demand for drones in industrial and defense applications. With its investment in the ‘Drone City’ project, Garuda Aerospace aims to play a crucial role in this evolving global landscape.
