by DRONELIFE Staff Writer Ian M. Crosby

Electric flying car racing series Airspeeder has announced a two-year broadcast content deal with Fox Sports Australia to bring exclusive flying car racing content to Australian audiences. The new programming lineup includes highlights from the first Airspeeder EXA Series Race in South Australia, a “Finding Extreme Pilots Series,” and “How to Build a Flying Car” series exploring how Airspeeder’s eVTOL vehicles are built. Sports production company Aurora Media Worldwide also executive produced a Road to Flying Car Racing documentary, which will provide audiences with a behind-the-scenes look at the season, and the advanced air mobility technology that underpinned it.

“Airspeeder is at the forefront of flying car technology and we are excited to be working with Fox Sports Australia to bring the thrill of flying car racing to audiences across our home country of Australia,” said Airspeeder’s Head of Media Stephen Sidlo. “This two year content partnership will give fans an unparalleled look into the future of motorsports and the technology that bridges futurism and real-world racing.”

A joint effort from Airspeeder and Aurora Media Worldwide, these shows will give viewers insight into the pilots, teams, and technology behind the sport. This exclusive access to Airspeeder and Alauda Aeronautics racing series will make Fox Sports Australia the prime destination for all things flying car racing.

Alauda Aeronautics, the team behind the Speeders that compete in EXA and Airspeeder races, has created an engineering and digital ecosystem for electric flying car (eVTOL) racing. This feat was accomplished by a team composed of some of the most renowned figures in Formula 1, motorsport and advanced aerospace development, including multi-World Championship winning engineers from Ferrari and development talent from Boeing, Airbus, McLaren, Jaguar Land Rover and Rolls-Royce.

For the inaugural race, the team built race control stations, a pilot control station, a private 5G network, Augmented Reality (AR) Sky Tracks, and an engineering and team control station. They also developed race rules and a full suite of safety, logistics and race management protocols. The technology utilized for the race demonstrates what cities will be using in the next decade as electric flying cars (eVTOL) are established as a viable form of transportation.
