Urban-Air Port has selected Osprey as a preferred EV charging provider for the AAM Hub Network.

by DRONELIFE Staff Writer Ian M Crosby

Fresh off the heels of Urban-Air Port’s Air One event in Coventry UK, the company has announced that it has chosen leading charge point operator Osprey Charging as one of its preferred partners to supply charging for non-aeronautical vehicles at its vertiport sites.

Over the course of the Air One event’s three week run, Osprey provided several stations for a showcase of on-site ‘charging as a service’. This will serve as a crucial component of Urban-Air Port’s non-aeronautical revenue, delivered via the Urban-Air Choice digital platform.

Using cutting-edge technology, Osprey delivers foolproof rapid chargers, powered by electricity generated from 100% renewable sources. Accepting contactless and app payments, the chargers will feature integration with Urban-Air Choice via the UAP app.

Urban-Air Port ChargingBoth companies share the goal of solving the infrastructure shortage preventing growth in the EV industry, with Urban-Air Port seeking to deploy its multi-modal hub on a mass scale, and Osprey building one of the UK’s largest vehicle charging infrastructure networks. Urban-Air Port is planning to utilize Osprey’s charging technology at many of its sites that will span the UK in the future.

“Our goal is to provide agnostic ground infrastructure for EVTOL cargo and passenger air taxis, including ground transport, as demonstrated at Air One – A seamless, zero-emission, intermodal journey is now possible,” said Urban-Air Port Founder and Executive Chairman Ricky Sandhu. “We’re delighted to have Osprey join our Advanced Air Mobility ecosystem, the world’s strongest and most sustainable. We look forward to building holistic, viable and sustainable infrastructure solutions that can help us all achieve our net zero goals.”

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Urban-Air Port to provide safe, reliable and accessible charging at its future sites,” said Osprey Charging CEO Ian Johnston. “The eVTOL space is hugely exciting and is becoming increasingly relevant as the world looks to reduce its emissions in all forms of transport. From those electrifying the vehicles on our roads to our skies, we love collaborating with innovators in the EV world, and we look forward to continuing to work with Urban-Air Port on its future exciting projects.”

Ian attended Dominican University of California, where he received a BA in English in 2019. With a lifelong passion for writing and storytelling and a keen interest in technology, he is now contributing to DroneLife as a staff writer.
