Autonomous Drone Startup Percepto Soars in North American Market with new HQ

January 27, 2021 by Jason Reagan 11 Comments

autonomous drone perceptoAutonomous drone developer Percepto is soaring into a major American expansion after the Israel company last week announced the Q2 opening of its “U.S. Center of Excellence” headquarters in  Texas and the launch of the startup’s Autonomous Inspection and Monitoring (AIM) platform to the North American market.

To help lead the effort, Percepto recruited Robert Mayfield as VP of Sales, North America. He will be tasked with marketing a drone platform hailed by the company as “a transformative solution for remote, fully autonomous, asset monitoring, inspection and compliance of industrial sites.” The new HQ will support Percepto’s existing U.S. client base which includes Florida Power and Light (FPL), Delek U.S. and Verizon.

Mayfield brings more than 20 years of experience after working for companies like BDNA Corporation (acquired by Flexera), Nugenesis Technologies and, most recently, Sparta Science. Mayfield will lead the U.S. sales team expansion, recruiting enterprise sales professionals and solution engineers nationwide.

Corporate reaction

“This is the perfect time to welcome Robert Mayfield to Percepto as our new VP of Sales, North America,” said Dor Abuhasira, CEO and Co-Founder of Percepto.

He added:

“In 2021 we are rolling out many new AIM deployments across our existing base and new customers. Since the pandemic struck, further verticals now recognize the need for autonomous inspection alongside our traditional base of heavy industrial sites. Robert is a highly experienced executive with a proven record of driving sales growth and building powerful teams of local sales and engineering experts.”

“I’m very excited to be joining Percepto at this time of rapid growth and expansion as  we aggressively hire to further build out the North America sales and support team,” Mayfield said.

“Enterprise customers now recognize the need for a comprehensive solution rather than trying to manage the volumes of unstructured and disparate data generated from manually piloted drones, robots, and sensors. This business need plays directly into Percepto’s sweet spot as we leverage our world-wide leadership Drone-In-A-Box position and experience into the AIM platform.”

The news comes a mere month after Percepto announced three regulatory milestones—completing the certifications and a test flight phase that take the Israeli company a step closer to FAA Certification, countrywide EVLOS in Australia and BLOS in Norway. The process involves 150 hours of test flights under all weather conditions in the U.S. and Israel.

May: Market research firm Frost and Sullivan awards Percepto with the 2020 Global Enabling Technology Leadership Award for its “best-in-class, end-to-end autonomous drone-in-a-box solution.”

2019: Percepto trials autonomous drones over SK Telecom’s 5G trial network in South Korea.

2018: The company teams up with port-security firm CERTUS Port Automation to provide a fleet of autonomous drones to protect maritime ports and terminals.
