Following a series of social media teasers, The Underground Thieves — Nick Perri’s new, eclectic band — released its third single, “Danger Light,” today. This release follows Perri’s announcement of the group’s plans for yearlong music releases: chapters of a 12-part story showcasing the singing and songwriting talents of its various collaborators.
A “Danger Light” hybrid music-lyric video is now available to stream on the group’s YouTube channel. Shot by Austin M Bauman, it features a stunning drone-shot view of the Southern California landscape, in which Perri can been seen riding a hand-built custom motorcycle from renowned builder Taber Nash, owner of Nash Motorcycle Company.

“It was the most fun filming a music video I’ve ever had,” said Perri. “Knees in the breeze, fresh mountain air, and good tunes to accompany. It was perfect.”
The Underground Thieves-whose second single, “Everybody Wants One,” was selected as the theme song of Pro Aerial League’s Professional Team Drone Racing Championship-will perform its debut show at the Cutting Room in New York on May 10. The group will perform at The Ardmore Music Hall in Philadelphia on May 11. Tickets are available through the band’s website.
“Danger Light” blends elements of rock, soul, blues, and classic Motown grooves. Perri’s signature, fierce guitar playing sets the song’s driving foundation and complements the passionate lead vocals sung by Cassidy Catanzaro, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter. The track features fellow Silvertide alum Brian Weaver on bass guitar and John Bach of alt-rock group Mount Holly on drums. Weaver, Perri and Catanzaro work to create rich harmonies and backing vocals along with Lauren Victoria, a country- and blues-influenced artist from Bakersfield. “Danger Light” is the first Underground Thieves single to feature seasoned keyboardist and composer Sasha Smith (Walter Trout, Linda Perry) on Hammond organ.
“I had the idea for ‘Danger Light’ for quite some time, but it wasn’t until Cassidy wrote such incredible lyrics and melodies that I knew we had something really great,” said Perri.
“Danger Light” — is now available on iTunes, Spotify and other major music networks. It was engineered, mixed and mastered by Marc DiSisto, whose credits include Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker and Don Henley, among other classic rock and pop icons. DiSisto also engineered Silvertide’s “Show & Tell” album, on which Perri was lead guitarist and co-songwriter.
Perri said The Underground Thieves will continue releasing one new single, or “chapter,” a month through December 2018. At that time, the band will compile all 12 chapters into a full-length album to be distributed both physically and electronically.
“I don’t like the idea of asking people to wait for music, especially for long periods of time,” said Perri. “Gone are the days of two- to three-year album cycles. With this project, we can share our music as it comes to fruition, bringing our fans along on this journey in real-time.”
