DJI Announces Christmas Promotions

December 14, 2016 by Malek Murison 1 Comment

On top of releasing three new drones in time for the holidays, DJI is reducing the prices of some of its older models.

It’s not too late to get a great deal on a drone this Christmas. If you’re looking for an upgrade on your current model, an introductory drone for aerial photography or just another to add to the collection, you could do worse than browse through the DJI Christmas promotions.

As we predicted toward the end of our Best Drones Under $1,000 article, the Chinese manufacturer’s new releases, namely the Mavic Pro, the Phantom 4 Pro and the Inspire 2, have left the original Phantom 4 – still comfortably one of the best drones on the market – struggling for an identity. For example, there are good arguments for getting a Phantom 4 over a Mavic Pro, but there’s not much between them.

DJI Christmas Promotions

DJI’s answer is to drop the price of the Phantom 4 under $1,000 for the first time. Considering this is a drone that was clearly leading the consumer market until a couple of months ago, it’s a bold move from DJI. On the one hand, it highlights exactly how fast the consumer industry is moving: The Phantom 4 was only released in March 2016 and is already out of date. It also shows that DJI is perhaps its own biggest competitor at the moment. We’re not sure if that’s a good thing or not.

The Phantom 4 is now available for under $1,000. Not bad for a top of the range drone released in March 2016.

On top of offering a reduced price on the Phantom 4, the old (we’re talking way back in 2015) favorites that are the Phantom 3 Professional and Standard models are also dropping in price to $799 and $399 respectively.

DJI also announced promotions on its Osmo handheld gimbal and all DJI Care plans. The full list of offers includes:

  •  A free High Capacity Intelligent Battery with the purchase of the Osmo+ handheld stabilizer, or a free Intelligent Battery and Osmo Base with the purchase of the Osmo Mobile
  • All DJI Care service plans are discounted by 12%
  • The first 400 customers who purchase the recently released Phantom 4 Pro or Inspire 2 through the DJI website will receive a special holiday gift which includes a DJI scarf and 3D Christmas card

Great news if you’re looking for a DJI scarf, then.

The breakdown of the drone offers are in the table below.

DJI has said that this promotion will run until January 5th 2017. But we wouldn’t be surprised if these prices become permanent or drop even further in the coming months.
