Melbourne-based I-Drone has developed a drone that is capable of beaming news, games and advertising over the walls of your city or neighborhood. Currently in its proof-of-concept stage, the “Projector Drone” is capable of 12 minutes of flight time, on board data storage and is outfitted with a 500 Lumens Projector. Features such as live-streaming, individual projector controls, and audio capabilities are being developed for the next iteration of the model. “We are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what drones can do,” said I-Drone project manager Ryan Hamlet. “We want to go beyond ‘eye-in the sky’ applications. Our ‘Projector Drone’ does not record the world around it. It broadcasts onto it. The Projector Drone is one of our favorite projets and has been developed in partnership with the team at MiniProjector.com.au ” One can already imagine this tech in action: billboards could become green screens that display GIFs rather than static images and movies could easily be projected on the side of your house. Or, better yet, outfit this thing with a projected keyboard and it basically becomes a flying computer. This will certainly be an interesting project to watch. I-Drone is an Australian UAS component retailer. They distribute everything from the latest DJI Phantom to fully customized “heavy lift, FPV, 50 waypoint monsters.” Check out the Projector Drone in action:
