A young team of German engineers is looking to make a splash in the world of FPV drone racing with a pair of drones, the Arrow 200 and the Arrow 270, that they are targeting at both novices and experts alike. The developers say that their passion for Star Wars and video games like Planetside 2 influenced their approach.
The drones, which they expect to be commercially available in April of this year, have several interesting features. These include but not limited to:
- being developed and optimized in part by using 3D printers to iterate design
- a crash proof structure
- ability to set LED lights for different colors to distinguish during races
The Arrow 200 “offers a high maneuverability and can fly up to 80 km/h” according to the developers and their Arrow 270, they claim, “is one of the fastest racing drones with a maximum speed of 150 km/h.” The 270 can be upgraded a gimbal and GPS upgrade to allows filming with a Gopro video camera. Compared to the DJI Phantom the Arrow 270 is perfect for traveling due to its compact size and robustness.
