Elsight has been officially selected by the U.S. Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) to proceed to Phase 3 of Project G.I., Design Reference Mission 2 (DRM2) Prize Challenge, following strong performance in earlier evaluation rounds. The selection comes after Elsight demonstrated its HALO multi-link bonded connectivity platform as a mission-ready solution for uncrewed systems (UxS) operating in contested and contested environments, supporting successful tactical operations under real-world conditions.
HALO’s Technical Capabilities and Mission Impact
During Phase 2, Elsight showcased HALO’s ability to deliver secure, resilient connectivity via a multilink, data-distributed system. The capability briefing and in-person demonstration highlighted how HALO increases both operational effectiveness and survivability, even in the face of electronic warfare and jamming attempts. By aggregating and bonding cellular, satellite, and RF network links into a single communications tunnel, HALO provides uninterrupted command and control (C2) and real-time data transmission, ensuring persistent connectivity for mission-critical operations.
At Technology Readiness Level 9, HALO is device-agnostic and integrates seamlessly with leading UAV Blue UAS models. The platform leverages spectrum-aware technology for continuous coverage, making it suitable for scaled defense deployments and adaptable to evolving battlefield challenges.
DIU Recognition and Next Steps
Impressed by Elsight’s performance in operational demonstrations, DIU awarded Elsight both a Phase 2 completion monetary prize and initial funding for Phase 3 activities. Under Phase 3, Elsight will further validate and demonstrate HALO’s sustained operational readiness through extended real-world scenarios, pushing the platform’s capabilities even further as DIU seeks robust solutions for Distributed Operations Warfare (DOW) and future military applications.
