Perceptual Robotics Raises Funding to Automate Wind Turbine Inspection Drones

May 5, 2026 by Ian McNabb Leave a Comment

Loggerhead Ventures leads the round with follow-on from One Planet Capital, fueling AI-powered drones for wind farm maintenance.

Perceptual Robotics has secured fresh funding to scale its autonomous wind turbine inspection platform. Loggerhead Ventures led the round, with follow-on investment from One Planet Capital. The Thessaloniki-based company announced the deal on May 5, 2026.

The company combines autonomous drones and artificial intelligence to inspect wind farms. Its platform captures high-resolution data, classifies damage, and delivers comprehensive reports within 48 hours.

How the Wind Turbine Inspection Platform Works

Perceptual Robotics’ system also provides repair prioritization and cost-estimation tools. Wind farm operators can act earlier and target the most critical defects.

The technology has already processed thousands of wind turbine inspections and more than one million images. Earlier coverage from Dronelife noted the company’s flagship Dhalion DOT system and the EVE mini drone, both built around AI-driven damage classification.

Many issues still go undetected in traditional inspections. Roughly 65 percent of repairs are unplanned, driven by infrequent and costly inspection cycles.

A minor defect costing around €5,000 can escalate into repair bills exceeding €500,000. Perceptual Robotics says its automated approach delivers up to a 30 percent reduction in overall maintenance costs and a 50 percent cut in inspection costs.

Funding Targets Scale and Customer Support

The platform supports predictive maintenance, helping operators address issues before they become critical failures. It also limits high-risk manual inspections, improving safety for technicians.

“This new funding will enable us to scale our operations and further strengthen support for our customers, as we become the #1 solution for wind farm owners and service providers taking control of their inspections with their own teams,” said Kostas Karachalios, CEO and Co-Founder of Perceptual Robotics. “We’re excited for what’s ahead and grateful to be building it with partners who share our vision for a more efficient, sustainable energy sector.”

“The energy transition is not just about generating clean energy – it’s also about ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the infrastructure that supports it,” said Dr. Evangelos Kosmidis, CEO and General Partner at Loggerhead Ventures. “Perceptual Robotics addresses a critical, yet often overlooked challenge in wind energy by using technology that turns data into actionable decisions.”

Matt Jellicoe, Co-Founder and Investment Director at One Planet Capital, said: “PR has developed significantly over the last 12 months, showing strong customer pipeline conversion and high levels of industry interest as operators appreciate how much they can bring down inspection costs. Consequently, we were very positive about supporting the business at this stage of its development.”
