Lucid Bots Raises $20M to Scale Autonomous Exterior Cleaning Drone Platform

March 25, 2026 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

Funding supports expansion of robotics, AI, and subscription-based service model for cleaning operators

Lucid Bots has raised $20 million in a Series B funding round to expand its autonomous exterior cleaning platform and scale U.S.-based manufacturing.

The round was co-led by Cubit Capital and Idea Fund Partners. Additional investors include Taylor Rhodes, WaterStone Impact Fund, and Front Porch Ventures. The funding brings the company’s total to $34 million.

The company plans to use the capital to grow commercial operations, expand its manufacturing facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, and accelerate its Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) offering, Lucid Refresh.

“We’re on an ambitious journey to give software a body to do physically productive work that the world needs and become the USA’s leading supplier of modular drones and robots,” said Andrew Ashur, Founder and CEO of Lucid Bots. “This capital allows us to meet the massive market demand we’re seeing today while expanding our product offerings and accelerating our manufacturing and autonomy goals. The next 18 months will be transformative for our product roadmap and the industry at large.”

Subscription Model Expands Access to Robotics

Lucid Bots’ new Lucid Refresh platform offers a subscription-based approach to robotic cleaning. It allows operators to access drones, ground robots, software, and support without upfront capital investment.

The platform includes the Sherpa cleaning drone, the Lavo AI pressure washing robot, fleet management software, training, and job intelligence tools.

This model targets a common challenge in the cleaning industry. Many companies lack the resources to adopt robotics on their own.

“Our customers are running cleaning businesses,” said Vic Pellicano, President and Chief Platform Officer of Lucid Bots. “They don’t need a robot — they need a way to take on jobs they couldn’t do before, execute them better than the competition, and do it without betting their company on a capital purchase. That’s what we built. It’s less like buying equipment and more like adding a robotics division to your business that you can deploy on any job, any time.”

Operator Growth and Market Adoption

Lucid Bots reports that its operator network has generated more than $75 million in exterior cleaning revenue using its systems. The company says its Sherpa drone can reduce job completion time by two to five times. Operators report payback periods of less than two months.

Nearly 1,000 robots are now deployed across the United States. The company also reports that 93% of new business comes from inbound interest.

Its customer base ranges from independent operators to large organizations, including Disney and Sunbelt Rentals.

“The Lucid Sherpa drone has elevated our business to new heights opening doors and differentiating ourselves from the competition,” said Ryan Godwin, Owner of Godwin Facility Services. “We wouldn’t be where we are today without adding the Lucid Sherpa to our business.”

Data and AI Drive Performance

Lucid Bots emphasizes that its advantage comes from operational data rather than hardware alone. Its systems have logged hundreds of thousands of hours of real-world cleaning work.

This data trains the AI systems used in its robots. The company says this leads to improved performance over time, with more precise cleaning and better adaptation to conditions.

The company recently launched Lavo AI, an autonomous pressure washing robot designed for unattended operation. It includes a mobile app and a cloud-based data system.

Lucid Bots is also part of the NVIDIA Inception Program and is developing its AI capabilities in collaboration with NVIDIA.

Domestic Manufacturing and Industry Context

Lucid Bots manufactures its systems at a 25,000-square-foot facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The domestic footprint may support compliance with federal requirements for U.S.-built robotic systems. It also aligns with growing demand from government and enterprise customers.

Investors pointed to both market demand and labor challenges as drivers of growth.

“At Cubit Capital, we invest in companies with courageous leadership confronting meaningful societal challenges, and Lucid Bots represents exactly that,” said Philip Carson, Partner at Cubit Capital. “The labor crisis in industrial work is real, and Lucid has achieved genuine innovation with technology that empowers workers and creates safer workplaces. Their traction speaks for itself, and we’re excited to support a team that’s striving for redemptive outcomes by empowering workers rather than replacing them.”

“What excites us about Lucid Bots is that this isn’t a single-product company. It’s a platform defining a new category,” said Lister Delgado, Managing Partner at Idea Fund Partners. “By building AI systems trained on more real-world cleaning data than anyone else in the industry, they’re creating a compounding advantage that will be difficult to replicate. When you pair that with US-based manufacturing and strong unit economics, Lucid is poised to become a defining leader in the next generation of industrial automation.”

Expanding Role of Robotics in Industrial Work

The funding reflects broader growth in the use of drones and robotics for industrial tasks. Exterior cleaning is one example where automation can improve safety and efficiency.

By combining drones, ground robots, and software into a single platform, Lucid Bots aims to lower barriers to adoption. Its subscription model also reduces risk for operators entering the space.

As demand for automated solutions grows, platforms that integrate hardware, data, and services may play a larger role in how work gets done.
