High Lander and Thai Partners Launch National Drone Delivery Pilot in Bangkok

November 5, 2025 by Miriam McNabb 2 Comments

Vega UTM integrates with Thailand’s 5G network to manage real-time drone operations across Bangkok

Thailand has taken an important step toward developing a national drone infrastructure with a large-scale showcase of aerial deliveries in Bangkok. The event, called “The New Era of Drone Delivery,” was organized by Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT), the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), and High Lander Aviation, a global provider of unmanned traffic management (UTM) systems.

A Demonstration of Integrated Airspace Management

The collaboration between NT and High Lander demonstrated how coordinated UTM technology can safely enable drone operations in complex urban areas. High Lander’s Vega UTM platform integrated with NT’s advanced 5G network to deliver real-time visibility, flight coordination, and safety assurance across all participating drones. The system enabled operators to monitor live telemetry, receive flight authorizations, and avoid airspace conflicts autonomously.

Over the course of the demonstration, dozens of deliveries were successfully completed, ranging from medical and agricultural supplies to consumer goods. “CAAT’s role is to regulate aviation safety and promote the advancement of the aviation industry. Supporting innovation and technological development in unmanned aircraft and related systems is a key part of our mission,” said Air Chief Marshal Manat Chavanaprayoon, Director General of the CAAT.

He added that “NT’s infrastructure and digital platform for drone-based air transport are crucial elements that will enhance flight capabilities, enable effective air traffic management for drones, and raise the level of national airspace safety.”

Collaboration Across Ecosystem Partners

The Bangkok event showcased how government agencies, telecom providers, and private companies can work together to develop safe drone operations. Participating companies included Skyller Solutions, AMA Marine Public Company Limited, NacDrone by Easy 2018 Company Limited, and Avilon Robotics. Each contributed to practical delivery missions across Bangkok and nearby areas, including transporting defibrillators, medical supplies, agricultural products, and food.

International contributors also played a role. Dimetor, based in Austria, provided cellular signal analysis to ensure stable drone connectivity. DroneTag, a Czech Republic-based specialist, supplied Remote ID modules that reinforced secure communication between drones and the Vega system.

A Vision for Thailand’s Drone Future

The event began with a formal ceremony attended by more than 200 guests, including key Thai government leaders. Colonel Sanpachai Huvanandana, President of NT, and Alon Abelson, CEO and founder of High Lander, both spoke about the broader impact of the demonstration.

“It was a great honor to provide airspace management services for this historic showcase of the future of aviation in Thailand with Vega UTM,” said Abelson. “‘The Future of Drone Delivery’ was a shining example of the potential of unmanned aviation in improving public safety and creating new economic opportunities on a national scale.”

Abelson continued, “With this, Thailand has recognized the necessity of a digital infrastructure that can manage this new air traffic and coordinate multiple airspace participants. Vega UTM proved that this infrastructure exists and is ready to enable a new generation of aircraft to operate freely in even the most complex airspaces, and in harmony with existing aviation.”

About the Partners

High Lander’s Vega UTM provides a complete digital framework for drone traffic management, offering real-time airspace awareness, flight authorization, and deconfliction services. Designed to integrate with civil and defense aviation systems, it supports both public and private sector operators.

National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) is Thailand’s state telecommunications agency, responsible for developing and maintaining digital infrastructure across the country, including broadband, IoT, and 5G services.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) regulates and promotes the safety, security, and innovation of Thailand’s aviation industry in alignment with international standards.
