Q6V2 UAV provides real-time tracking to protect villagers and wildlife

In Jharkhand’s Silli region, forest officials recently turned to drone technology to manage a potentially dangerous human-elephant conflict. ideaForge Technology Limited deployed its advanced Q6V2 UAV in collaboration with its channel partner Sathi Planners Pvt. Ltd. (SPPL), under the leadership of the Divisional Forest Officer, Ranchi.

The incident began when a herd of elephants strayed from the forest into nearby villages, sparking fear among residents. With lives and property at risk, officials needed a rapid and precise way to monitor the herd and coordinate a response.

Real-Time Monitoring and Action

SPPL launched the Q6V2 UAV, equipped with both Daylight and Night Vision payloads. The drone tracked the elephants’ movements across dense forest cover and village boundaries.

The UAV streamed high-definition optical and thermal visuals directly to forest officials in real time. These geo-tagged images gave authorities clear visibility of the herd’s location and direction, even during rainy and low-light conditions.

Armed with this intelligence, forest officers were able to alert villagers, guide safe evacuations, and tactically steer the elephants back toward their natural habitat. Importantly, the drone’s silent and high-endurance flight ensured the animals were not disturbed.

Bridging the Gaps in Traditional Methods

The operation highlighted the advantages of drone-based monitoring compared to traditional methods. Terrain, visibility, and limited response time often challenge ground teams. With the Q6V2, forest officials gained a faster, safer, and more accurate way to act.

By enabling coordinated decision-making, the UAV helped avert casualties among both humans and wildlife. “The silent and high-endurance operations of the Q6V2 ensured zero disturbance to the animals while delivering uninterrupted coverage to the ground teams,” the company noted.

UAVs in Conservation and Safety

ideaForge emphasized that the mission reflects the broader role of UAVs in wildlife management and conservation. Indigenous drone technology is now contributing to the safety of communities while supporting ecological sustainability.

“Traditional methods of monitoring elephant movement are often hampered by terrain, visibility, and response time, but drone-enabled intelligence bridges these gaps effectively,” the release stated.

The successful deployment in Jharkhand reinforces how advanced drones can support conservation, protect lives, and enable sustainable coexistence between humans and wildlife.
