Fortem Technologies Expands Manufacturing to Meet Global Demand for Counter-Drone Systems

June 19, 2025 by Miriam McNabb Leave a Comment

New Utah Facility Doubles Production Capacity for DroneHunter®, TrueView™ Radar, and Drone Interceptors

As the threat from small drones continues to grow in modern conflict zones, Fortem Technologies has responded by opening a new 51,000-square-foot headquarters and manufacturing facility in Lindon, Utah. The advanced site more than doubles the company’s previous capacity and enables Fortem to bring key manufacturing processes in-house.

The move comes as Fortem’s counter-drone systems—such as DroneHunter®, DroneKiller™, and TrueView™ radar—are increasingly deployed in active military and homeland security operations in Ukraine, the Middle East, and around critical infrastructure globally.

“Drones have upended the economics of air warfare. For a few thousand dollars, our adversaries can now threaten assets worth billions,” said Jon Gruen, CEO of Fortem Technologies. “This new facility is a direct response to that reality. It gives us the scale, speed, and integration needed to build the counter-drone systems America and its allies require—not in five years, but right now.”

Fortem Technologies counter-drone manufacturing facility: Built for Speed and Scale

The new building replaces Fortem’s former sixth-floor office in nearby Pleasant Grove. Unlike the previous location, the Lindon facility includes 10,000 square feet of dedicated manufacturing space and on-site flight testing areas.

Production teams can now assemble, test, and revise products under one roof. This change eliminates the delays caused by outsourcing and off-site testing. The facility also includes pre-approved plans to expand by another 15,000 square feet if needed.

At full capacity, the Lindon facility can produce:

  • 600 radar units per month

  • 40 DroneHunter® interceptors per month

  • Over 300 ground-launched air-to-air munitions (GLAAMs) per month

  • 20 drone hangars per month, a process previously outsourced

Fortem has already completed more than 70,000 test flights and 5,500 drone captures in Utah.

“This facility is a game-changer for how we build and deploy advanced air-defense systems,” said Jim Housinger, Chief Operating Officer at Fortem Technologies. “We’ve eliminated the inefficiencies of off-site testing and fragmented production. Now our engineers and manufacturing teams are under one roof, with the ability to build, test, rework, and ship—all in the same day. That agility is critical when the threats are evolving by the hour.”

Meeting the Needs of Modern Air Defense

Fortem’s systems play a growing role in modern layered air defense strategies. Their radar-guided interceptors, powered by AI through the company’s SkyDome® command software, are specifically designed to detect and neutralize fast, low-flying drones that evade traditional radar.

Fortem is currently the only company authorized to deploy drone-on-drone kinetic interceptors in U.S. airspace. Its products are trusted by military, government, and commercial clients around the world.

With ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D certifications, Fortem continues to scale production while reducing reliance on foreign suppliers. The Utah-based team has grown to over 100 employees, with the ability to double in size as demand increases.

About Fortem Technologies

Fortem Technologies is a global airspace security company. Its integrated suite of products includes TrueView™ radar, SkyDome® software, and both non-lethal and lethal drone interceptors. Backed by investors including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Toshiba, Fortem’s technology has been validated in global defense operations and is designed to protect both today’s critical infrastructure and tomorrow’s advanced air mobility systems.
