In a move towards moving concepts of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) forward globally, SkyDrive Inc., a prominent Japanese eVTOL aircraft manufacturer, and Cyient, a global Intelligent Engineering and Technology Solutions company headquartered in Hyderabad, India, announced a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) and a joint technical collaboration on the cutting-edge eVTOL “SKYDRIVE.”

This strategic collaboration marks a significant milestone as it represents SkyDrive’s first-ever partnership with an Indian engineering firm. The partnership aims to foster collaboration across multiple domains, including product development, engineering, manufacturing, and digital services.

Global Urban Air Mobility PartnershipAt the signing ceremony held at Cyient’s headquarters in Hyderabad, the Founder Chairman and Board Member of Cyient, BVR Reddy, along with Executive Director & CEO, Karthikeyan Natarajan, joined hands with SkyDrive CEO, Tomohiro Fukuzawa, signifying a momentous alliance poised to shape the future of mobility.

Tomohiro Fukuzawa, CEO of SkyDrive, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are pleased to sign the partnership with Cyient to jointly collaborate on advanced technology development for our eVTOL. Cyient is one of India’s leading engineering companies with a wide range of business operations around the world, including in the aerospace industry. Having Cyient as a partner to create the first eVTOL technical publication manual will take us closer to the future of the mobility revolution.”

Founder Chairman and Board Member of Cyient, BVR Reddy, highlighted the immense potential of “Engineered in India” to contribute globally to the future of Urban Air Mobility. He emphasized, “This partnership will empower SkyDrive to tap into the engineering ecosystem of talent and technology available in India through Cyient and serve the global UAM market, including India. This is also our pledge to our communities and the environment to be pioneers in shaping a better world for everyone.”

Executive Director & CEO of Cyient, Karthikeyan Natarajan, shared his excitement about being India’s first partner for Japan’s leading UAM – eVTOL manufacturer, SkyDrive. Natarajan stated, “By 2030, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) will be a $23 billion opportunity globally. And I am thrilled to announce that we are India’s first partner for Japan’s leading UAM – eVTOL manufacturer, SkyDrive, for the advanced technology development of their eVTOL. This partnership is a testament to our commitment towards intelligent engineering for an autonomous future. With the possibility for expansion, this partnership underscores Cyient’s dedication to leading the way in urban mobility innovations in India.”

The collaboration between SkyDrive and Cyient follows a series of announcements by Japanese-based firms venturing into partnerships in India, highlighting the growing global interest and collaboration in the field of advanced technology and engineering. As both companies pool their expertise, this partnership is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the landscape of Urban Air Mobility, not just in India but on a global scale.
